Hi friends, we are currently open for open studio and should be here from 12-5. However there is an active travel advisory for our county and we encourage folks to stay home if they can. We will be here until road conditions worsen.

Note that 10th Street is CLOSED south of the studio, so you need to arrive from the north (37 to Greenfield or Pleasant Street)

Hi all! Due to the flash flooding warnings in Hamilton County and the Indy area in general, classes tonight are CANCELLED and the studio is CLOSED. If there are any questions, please contact the studio.

This fine Tuesday, we'd like to remind folks regardless of if they're new to art, taking a break for their health, or seasoned pros needing an uplift -- we see you. Creativity is hard under ideal circumstances and you're doing great! The goal isn't perfection, the goal is trying, starting, and persevering.

A fresh batch of One Time Classes has bloomed with the crazy summer rainstorms, and with it came a standardized schedule. Moving forward, we'll have classes 2 Friday nights, 2 Saturday nights, and 2 Sunday afternoons each month. This will allow us to make things a smidgeon more predictable, offer classes more regularly, and also leave some space for private events and workshops! Isn't that exciting?

What's a One Time Class? Join us for a 2 hour wheelthrowing session and make up to 3 things. Our instructors will guide you through the process from beginning to end -- no experience required. Afterward, choose your glaze colors and pick up your pieces when they're done! Each class is $50 per person, and we recommend ages 16 and up for class.

Time is running out to join us for our Session 4 8-Week Classes! Classes begin next week, with a few times already sold out.

If you're worried about missing a class -- don't worry! You can always drop into another class time during the week. Work with your instructor to schedule this, and also take advantage of our Open Studio time to come in for extra practice! Whether you're an experienced potter or just beginning, we've got a class for you!

Grab your floaties because it's time for a summer Show & Tell!

📅 WHEN: Saturday, July 25, 5-9pm
📍WHERE: Looking Glass Pottery Studio, Noblesville IN
🫂 WHO: Anyone in the community! Bring your friends! Your (well-behaved) family!
❓WHAT: What is the show & tell? It is a nerdy, ceramics potluck where everyone brings their favorite summery ceramics work and celebrates it together. Imagine your favorite school presentation with lots of applause!

There's no pressure to bring any pottery, or talk about your pottery, but if you'd like a confidence boost or just want to hang out with some fun pals and eat some good food, this is the event for you!

Want to know what you'll learn this session? We think of each session as a new adventure. Since the class curriculum changes every 8 weeks, students have an opportunity to learn new things and grow their skills, while still allowing new students an easy entry point to learn.

As always, completing the assigned class project each week isn't mandatory, but can be a great step forward in your craft.

This session, our Beginner 1 students will focus on Cylinders -- how to make them with intention, and how to step into large vases and mugs.

Beginner 2 students will learn how to refine their forms and how to avoid some common technique mistakes. We'll balance the session with some decorating techniques also!

And finally, our Intermediate students will continue their journey of complex forms, as voted on by the current Intermediate students. We look forward to seeing what the combination of various challenging wheelthrowing techniques will yield, along with the handbuilding elements we usually see.

BRICKYARD CERAMICS EXPO
📅July 24th from 9-5 and July 25th from 9-4
This lovely event is hosted at the Brickyard Ceramics and Crafts location, which is also AMACO national headquarters. Join us and many other local studios and artists for free demos and workshops, and don't forget to stock up on your favorite products. Looking Glass Pottery's own Vincent, Lu, and Nica are among the presenters!

SUMMER SHOW & TELL
📅 July 25th, 5-9pm
Come for the pottery, stay for the potluck. This theme is anything for a sensational summer, but even if you don't bring work to share with us, you're free to hang out. We recommend RSVPing and bringing a dish to share -- or just yourself!

MASS AVE MUDROOM BIRTHDAY PARTY

Our dear friends at Mass Ave Mudroom are celebrating their first year in operation with a throwdown, a rage room, and a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood. Celebrate the First Friday in August in the Factory Arts district. Local studios, like Looking Glass, will also have booths at the event.

Hey friends! We're just as excited as you for the next session to get started. Registration opens this Saturday 7/18 at noon, so set your alarms!

What do we offer? Our studio primarily focuses on wheel-throwing classes. Beginner 1 is great for those who are new to wheel-throwing or want to explore the basics, while Beginner 2 is great for students who are familiar wheel-throwing and want to further develop their skills. Intermediate wheel is also available for folks who have more experience, and thrive in a group setting where they can work a bit more independently.

Whether you're new to clay or just looking for a place to work, we hope you'll enjoy joining our thriving community!

All of this session's classes include: 25 pounds of clay, firings, dipping glazes, and access to shared tools and equipment. Students can buy a personal toolkit for $15 if they don't already have one. Classes include access to the studio for extra practice outside of class -- at designated times, students can come in and practice their making skills in addition to regular class time.
