I'm sure you're as tired as I am seeing the staggering amount of AI flyers all Summer, and unfortunately it's began to invade Halloween. An influx of haunters are already using AI to make their logos, advertisements or even generate images of what to put in their haunts. Bluntly, AI art is obvious and ugly.

A majority of this theme's front yard is art, which is why before I start rolling out the big stuff I thought it very important to clear the air and disclose that this event has not and will never use AI. From early concept stages to the final product, digital or physical, everything is coming from a human proudly handmade.

Build blueprints and any promotional images start in Procreate, hand drawn. Photoshop is used for 3D effects like bevelling or text work like you see in this year's cover and profile photos. Our commercials and more of the video coding side of things are created in Adobe After Effects and audio work is done in Davinci. In some cases when an image is needed quickly, online "Clip Art" is pulled like the portraits of last year's missing posters for example.

While AI has its uses, it's our stance that it has no place in this art space. Creativity is one of the best parts of this community and it's our guarantee you're getting a hand crafted event every year. In just the front yard alone, so far we've hit a whopping 500 square feet of hand painted art! These things take time, but I hope you too find the inspiration to go out and make something spooky and original this season ๐ŸŽƒ

๐Ÿšจ JUST ANNOUNCED ๐Ÿšจ
๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ ๐˜๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐…๐ž๐š๐ซ

Over the past decade we've brought to life 4 unique themes, centered around original characters starring in their own haunted houses. From scarecrows to spirits these themes continue to grow bigger and better as we get more experience under our belt, striving to outdo what we did the previous year. But not everyone has been here from our start to experience them all, in the detail that our earlier themes could've been.

As Backyard of Horrors enters our first big anniversary year, I'm excited to finally announce our first themed crossover event. Harold Harvester, The Invaders, The Ringmaster, and the Reaper of Death all return to cross paths in one brand new haunted house. 10 years have led to this.

๐ŸŽก ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐’๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ - The Ringmaster has traveled the world all his life, concocting a carnival of freaks and monsters that he's picked up along the way. Decades ago, packing up from his latest stop, he sat down in his makeup chair and in the mirror saw that Death had come for him. He made a deal with Death to keep bringing him the most unique souls the world has to offer, and having a collection of his own, Death agreed to extend his contract. Every 10 years Death returns to collect, and each time the order gets harder to fill. With his deadline once again approaching, the Ringmaster sweetens the deal by offering to bring his Carnival of Carnage to Reapers Rest, walking hundreds of people to their end. And if that's not enough, The Ringmaster has been sitting on two mainstage acts he's picked up through his travels. Perhaps the last living Invader or a possessed chainsaw wielding scarecrow will be enough to excite Death itself.

๐Ÿ‘ฝ ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐…๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ญ ๐˜๐š๐ซ๐ - Take a trip down memory lane in a showcase of our history. Like any franchise that has gone on too long, it's only a matter of time before tackling the time travel trope. As the Backyard of Horrors clock strikes our 10th year, the clock starts ticking in reverse. Going out over the next two days we have a giant 8โ€™ clock that will actually tick backwards through time, supported by Reapers Rest pillars. For each of our 4 themes, I've built a multi-layered shadowbox as a 3D movie poster for that year with lighting effects inside! These have been a project and will be rolling out weekly through September.

๐Ÿ’€ ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐‡๐š๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐‡๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž - This is a big one. There is no scarezone this year because we have so much walkthrough to get through it's devoured our open scarezone. Stepping through our driveway facade, you're in it (The facade being a 12โ€™ hand painted mural of our 4 main characters). Then begins a 10 year trip through our history as each of our icons get their moment to shine. Your favorite theme is back and there's something for everyone to love. Icons will come face to face and may even fight each other to the death for dominance in some big show moments. Make no mistake this is no rehashed or reused theme. Everything is being rebuilt using techniques we've improved on through the years. Old scares will come back better. Familiar concepts of rooms and hallways will be remixed and dialed up to a new level of detail. Props we've never had the time to get to will finally be built. I'll be posting throughout the week going room by room without giving too much away, but we have some big plans. For example, you will be able to enter the Harvester Barn which was once only a facade. And for one of our bigger moments, the Invaders never got their UFO. ๐Ÿ‘€

๐ŸŒฝ This is a theme that's been building for 10 years and this haunt is a love letter to all that's come before. This is a one year theme only to close off our first 10 years, as a send off to these characters. ANOTHER brand new theme is coming next year to start our next decade of fear and I'm looking to make some serious upgrades to the walkthrough experience in 2027. Whether you've been coming since the beginning or this is your first BoH, thank you for your support and excitement. I can't wait to tell you more and reminisce over our event that's now thousands strong. Stay tuned for more!
