The wait is over…our outdoor seal exhibit, Rescue Harbor, is once again open to the public! Oh, and did we mention we’ve been keeping a bit of a secret? 👀

Meet Papita!

The Aquarium of Niagara’s newest rescued resident is a 3-year-old harbor seal who travelled more than 4000 miles from Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward, Alaska. Her name means “little potato” or “little potato chip” and is certainly fitting for this small, adorable seal.

Papita has been doing great on-exhibit with our male harbor seal, Lumiere. You can come see both of them in Rescue Harbor during normal operating hours.

We’ll be sharing more about Papita’s backstory and adjustment to life at the Aquarium over the coming days so stay tuned!

We don’t know how Lucas’ spidey senses are but his penguin senses are super! Thank you to his mom, Elizabeth, for sharing this footage with us before taking it to the Daily Bugle.

Our penguin exhibit got a pop of color thanks to our friends from Monday Mocktails at Elma Public Library! The birds got a special delivery of about 100 hand-painted pebbles that will be scattered on the beach as our colony gets ready to make their nests. Cusco has already given his seal of approval!

Thank you for all the hard work!

The Walsh team was reporting for duty at the Aquarium of Niagara yesterday. We worked together to spruce up their outside space and then got a behind-the-scenes look at the aquarium! Thank you to the Aquarium of Niagara for having us - we had a great time!

Did you know our largest sea lion, Copper, wasn’t always the goofy, curious, and playful sea lion she is known as now?

This we’re turning back the clock to show how some kids and a kick ball flipped a switch for Copper and turned her into the enrichment-loving lady she is today!
