PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — With collectors amassed in the area for New Hampshire Antiques Week, Derin Bray, owner and auctioneer of Bray & Co, timed his Americana and Shaker auction to gather as many eyeballs as possible. The August 15 sale was conducted a full week after the shows had run their course, but the preview purposely scheduled (and heavily advertised) during Antiques Week was well-attended.

“I was thrilled. There was a lot of turnout at the preview, and we had somewhere between 40 and 50 in-person bidders, which is a small triumph in itself in this time of online auctions,” Bray said. “It was pretty spirited bidding from start to end.”

POTSDAM, N.Y. — “Every year we do a summer Adirondack auction; this was our 19th,” explained Kip Blanchard, owner of Blanchard’s Auction Service, following the firm’s August 15 Premier Adirondack Auction. Bolstered by an exceptional estate collection, the 853-lot event was “Spectacular,” he said, adding, “It was awesome!”

As Blanchard was cataloging this year’s auction of Adirondack material, the firm acquired property from the Whitney/Vanderbilt collection from Whitney Park (Long Lake, N.Y.). As described in the catalog, “Whitney Park, established by financier William C. Whitney (1841-1904) in the late Nineteenth Century and later stewarded by the Whitney and Vanderbilt families, has long been regarded as one of the most iconic and historically important estates in the Adirondacks.”...

The annual New Hampshire Antiques Show, now in its 69th year, has cemented its stature in antiques circles as an event that offers buyers fresh material and “new” items seldom seen. In the same vein as people who attend a fashion designer’s runway preview to get the first peek at what’s being offered, so too buyers flock to this show knowing they will see unusual and interesting material.

New Hampshire Antiques Week 2026: Antiques In Manchester
MANCHESTER, N.H. — That ineffable magical quality that makes New Hampshire Antiques Week what it is was in full force throughout the week but was especially noticeable at Antiques in Manchester: The Collector’s Fair, which ran August 5-6 at St Anselm College’s Sullivan Arena.

“There is just something about this whole week that so much really interesting great stuff shows up,” said showrunner Karen DiSaia, noting that dealers are already putting aside items for next year’s show.

As usual, Antiques in Manchester boasted a strong gate with some buyers waiting several hours to get into the show. At 10 am sharp on opening day, shoppers were admitted into the show in groups of 50 and quickly descended on their booths of choice. “People were in a really good mood, and there seemed to be a high level of excitement,” DiSaia said. “People were walking out with bags of stuff. I took a picture of somebody coming out with two cartfulls of things they had bought!”...

New Hampshire Antiques Week 2026: Concord Antique Show
CONCORD, N.H. — The Douglas Everett Arena was transformed into a showcase that, for a mere seven hours August 4, was a prime selling venue for American antiques ranging from primitives to colorful textiles.

Going strong in its tenth year as part of New Hampshire Antiques Week, the Concord Antique Show (formerly known as the Americana Celebration Antique Show) went very well, reported showrunner Peter Mavris. “I got tremendous feedback from almost all the dealers on how well they did, and as usual, they were thrilled with their success.”

There are always new dealers and new blood, ensuring a lively mix of material on offer, and Mavris said he is already accruing a list of those who are eager to join the show next year...

New Hampshire Antiques Week 2026: The Deerfield Antique Show
DEERFIELD, N.H. — “Yeah, we canceled for today,” said Josh Gurley of Gurley Antique Shows, during a 7 am phone call. “Just kidding, we never cancel.” It was a good thing too, for no amount of pouring rain or gale-force winds were going to keep customers away from the Deerfield Antique Show August 3. Despite the majority of its 80-plus vendors setting up indoors, everyone in attendance was slightly soggy, and yet they all survived to have a great show.

“Folks travel from far and wide to buy at N.H. Antiques Week… [they] have been coming to Deerfield for 35 years,” Rachel Gurley, co-owner and showrunner, reported. “It’s a tradition. Sales were good and we will see everyone next year!”...

New Hampshire Antiques Week 2026: Granite State Antique Shows
MILFORD, N.H. — Granite State Antique Shows opened its doors to 2026’s New Hampshire Antiques Week on Sunday, August 2, welcoming early buyers at 7 am. Formerly Milford Antique Shows, Granite State is now managed by Stephen P. Cyr, who is proud to carry on the torch.

“There was a lot of positivity… [and] a little bit of uncertainty, knowing that the show was under new management,” Cyr wrote during the following week. “People seemed to like what they saw, and I had a lot of wonderful feedback.” In addition to the wide variety and quality of merchandise presented by over 50 dealers, Cyr assembled a new staff to assist customers with their purchases in the easily accessible parking lot. The complimentary coffee and baked goods were also received well, of course. Between 300 and 400 people shopped at the show, which was open until 2 pm. “It’s a great feeling when you hold an event and it goes so smoothly,” he added...

SAN ANTONIO — For the United States’ 250th anniversary, the Briscoe Western Art Museum aims to celebrate the vaquero culture that provided the basis for cowboy culture, which is often conceived in Anglo-centric terms. With more than 100 objects dating back to a stupendously ornate pair of spurs that belonged to a Spanish conquistador, circa 1550, “Tejano Legacy: Another American Origin Story,” on view through January 18, highlights the legacies of New Spain and Mexico.

Liz Jackson, president and CEO of the Briscoe, calls the bilingual exhibition “an invitation to experience a richer, more complete understanding of the American West,” including the often unacknowledged contributions of Tejanos (Texans of Mexican descent) that “have been woven into the fabric of Texas and our nation.”...
