Full day of Adaptive Dance Training at Boston Ballet School.

Today we met with staff of Boston Ballet School, Boston Children's Hospital and Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts Education all to learn about Disability Inclusion, Down Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder. We were even given an in depth lesson in American Sign Language by Silent Rhythms, Inc. and we heard from dancers that have taken and are currently enrolled in the Adaptive Dance programming.

So much information shared and so many amazing connections made. Truly grateful to this experience and excited to take it all back to Connecticut and kick off class at GLORIA JEANS STUDIO OF DANCE.

It also just felt fitting to have my Kids For Kids, Dancing for Life, Inc, Inc tumbler with me for great day! Looking forward to what tomorrow brings!

🌟 Ambassador Highlight 🌟

Meet Lily!

Lily has been an avid performer and artist in several genres thus far in her lifetime. She has performed in musicals, plays the clarinet, sings, and dances competively with Eastman Dance Company. For the past several years, Lily has found joy volunteering around the Connecticut shoreline whenever she can. Most recently, she has helped set up, decorate, and facepaint for several local non-profits, including The Duck Dip and Beyond The Horizon. Lily is looking forward to adding her love of dance as a way to help people of all ages reach for the stars. She also really loves cats.

We had a wonderful day at Beyond the Horizon, Inc. Superhero Summer Kickoff! Our legacy girls, Leigha and LillyAnn helped with arts & crafts, the Superhero obstacle course and most importantly bringing smiles to the faces of everyone that attended!

🌟 Ambassador Highlight 🌟

Meet Leigha!

Leigha is 8 years old and lives in North Branford, CT. She will soon be heading to fourth grade, where she really enjoys science. Some of her favorite things to do are reading, drawing and helping others. She has been dancing for 7 years and her favorite styles are ballet and lyrical. Leigha is a 2x regional dancer of the year and recently was crowned Petite Miss Diamond Dancer.

Leigha is also the most amazing big sister to her brother Colton, who was the inspiration behind all of our programming.

Embrace: An Adaptive Dance Program

Our programming embraces individuals of differing abilities in a safe, inclusive environment that will help dancers develop & strengthen fine/ gross motor skills and is flexible for all physical abilities, communication styles, and sensory needs!

Classes taught will be ballet and jazz and will be based upon course of study through Boston Ballet Adaptive Dance Program.

We are excited to bring this new programming to Gloria Jean's School of Dance and we are grateful for their willingness and generosity of welcoming our programming to their school.

🌟Ambassador Highlight🌟

Meet Giuliana!

Hi, my name is Giuliana Piccirillo and I am honored to be a Legacy Dance Alliance Ambassador. I started dance at the age of 1 1/2. I am now 12 years old and this is my 11th year of dance. I am a member of the Eastman Dance Company. My favorite styles of dance are contemporary and jazz. I also love tap. Tap has brought me to two world championships in Croatia and Germany and this year I will be attending another in Prague. Dance has allowed me to express myself emotionally and and sparked creativity. I would like to help others who may not have the opportunity experience this. I look forward to a creating positive, welcoming environment for kids of all abilities.
