O’Shea-Chaplin Academy of Irish Dance, established in Ireland in 1954 and in Boston in the 1960s, is a family-run school for dancers of all ages and abilities. We have been teaching traditional and contemporary Irish Dance to children and adults for over 65 years. We offer classes for beginner to championship level in both individual and team dancing. Our beginner classes are held in Newton, Quinc
y, Reading, and Watertown. We emphasize the importance of a fun and friendly learning environment and passing our Irish heritage and culture to the next generation. Director Rita O’Shea was inducted into the Irish Dancing Hall of Fame in 2010. Our teachers are registered with An Coimisium in Dublin, Ireland. We offer non-competitive and competitive events throughout the year. Many of our dancers have gone on to win local regional, national and world championships . We have performed at the State House, Boston’s First Night and for the President of Ireland. Several of our senior dancers are now performing in Busch Garden, Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.
