🎤 Member Spotlight 🎤

Meet one of our wonderful sopranos, Sherry Smith! She’s been part of the Community Choir since the very first Christmas concert in 2022 and loves every minute of it.

If you know her, you know her go-to drink: Sonic unsweetened tea with extra lemon (all day, every day!). ☀️

Her heart belongs to the old gospel songs she grew up singing as a preacher’s kid—she knows them by heart and they still move her every time. You’ll often catch her singing without even realizing it.

Favorite treats? A McDonald’s ice cream cone (a Monday night tradition) and movie theater popcorn loaded with butter and salt.

She says her favorite artists are her fellow choir members, but also loves Carrie Underwood’s gospel and Anthem Lights.

After a long and meaningful career as an RN—starting when minimum wage was just $2/hour—she’s retiring April 30 and looking forward to a new chapter. Up next: more reading (especially history), piano, travel, and a dream trip to the Holy Land.

Fun fact: she’s also a proud “cat lady” to two ragdolls she inherited from her mother. 🐾

⏳ How many years have you been in the Jackson County Community Choir?
I joined at the beginning. (2022)

🎶 What voice part/parts do you sing in the choir?
I sing bass.

☕️ Coffee, tea, or neither?
I love sweet tea and doctored up coffee.

🤠 Favorite genre or band/artist?
I like 90s country but mainly Dolly and Reba.

🥨 Favorite snack?
I love Cheetos and can eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

❤️ Who do you love hearing sing in our choir, and why?
I love hearing Shelby sing because his voice has such clarity and power, and Tinyla’s voice is so beautiful.

We are so grateful to have Jonathan as part of our choir family and truly appreciate the talent, dedication, and joy he brings to our group.

🎤 Member Spotlight: Meet One of Our Altos 🎶

Say hello to Taylor Robinett, who is joining us for her very first year in the Jackson County Community Choir! ❤️

🎶 Music taste? “Mostly rock - newer stuff like Black Veil Brides or Motionless in White, but I also love older stuff like Queen, Fleetwood Mac, and The Beatles.”

☕️ Coffee, tea, or neither? “Both, depending on my mood.”

🎧 Go-to song on repeat? “I can’t choose!”

🍪 Favorite snack? “I’m not picky with snacks; I’ll eat anything.”

✨ Hidden talent? “I can play three instruments! Guitar is my favorite, but I can also play piano and violin.” 🎸🎹🎻

❤️ Who do you love hearing sing in our choir and why? “I love hearing everyone. I knew a few people when I started, but now I know everyone and love being around them all. They’re all such amazing singers.”

We’re so glad to have Taylor in the choir family this year, and we can’t wait for you to hear her on Sunday, March 29th at 3 p.m. during our Patriotic Concert at the Jane Parnell Performing Arts Hall.

Did you know that our upcoming Patriotic Concert 🎶 is a registered America 250 event? 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

“The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission was established by Congress in 2016 to plan and orchestrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Appointed by the House and Senate leadership of both parties, the nonpartisan Commission is composed of 16 private citizens, 4 U.S. Representatives and 4 Senators, as well as 12 Ex Officio members from all three branches of the federal government and its independent agencies.” - from the Official website of the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission

We have a couple of updates for JCCT’s production of Bye Bye Birdie!

First, we’re excited to welcome Ethan Hendrix to the creative team as our Choreographer. Ethan will be working with the cast to bring all the energy and movement this classic musical is known for.

We’ve also made a small adjustment to the Sunday audition time.

Auditions:
Friday, March 13 • 5–7 PM
Saturday, March 14 • 12–2 PM
Sunday, March 15 • 1–3 PM

Auditions will take place at the ASUN Center for the Arts.

Students in 7th grade through adults are welcome to audition. We can’t wait to see who will help bring Sweet Apple, Ohio to life!
