And just like that, Year Two is a wrap. ❤️

After two weeks of rehearsals, rewrites, discoveries, late nights, big swings, unexpected breakthroughs, and more than a few moments of “wait… what if we tried this?”, we ended the season the best way we know how: together.

There’s something pretty special about looking around a room at the end of it all and realizing just how many people have poured themselves into these new shows. We’re leaving the season with full hearts and so much excitement for what lies ahead.

Thank you for being part of Year Two. We’re so proud of what was made here, and even more grateful for the people who made it.

After two weeks of workshopping, exploring, and shaping, it was incredibly special to see The Debutantes come roaring to life last Saturday night!✨

Librettist and lyricist Sam Norman and composer Eliza Randall went down the rabbit hole with old songs cut, new songs born, and others reworked or reconceived — all in service of the story of Mavis and the remarkable women codebreakers of Bletchley Park.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to experience this powerful new work in the making. We hope you left with your hearts and minds transported — and with a renewed sense of excitement for artists bringing new musical stories to the stage.

Over the past two weeks, the team behind A Life Worth Living, created by Jeffery Chen , spent countless hours workshopping, exploring, and shaping the musical together. It was incredible to watch all of that hard work come to life on stage last Friday at Newport NewWorks’ public workshop presentation!✨

The journey of Gavin and his milieu deeply touched our hearts and will stay with us for a long time to come.

For the past two weeks, the team behind STUPID: A Genius New Musical, with book, music, and lyrics by Benjamin Scheuer and Simon Scheuer, poured their time, creativity, and energy into developing this new work.

They arrived to the festival with just one song written! So it was particularly remarkable to see everything they discovered along the way, and how STUPID: A genius new musical was really born right here in Newport! Watching Agnes and Ferdinand come to life before our eyes last Friday night made for an unforgettable evening of new musical theatre.

A fitting reminder that the work we make together is always rooted in collaboration, community, and bringing something to life.

When rehearsal wraps, the conversations continue🌊

An evening by the sea gave our artists a chance to step away from the rehearsal room, share a meal, swap books, and simply enjoy time together. As the night unfolded, favorite songs from the world of theater were shared gathered around a piano, creating an impromptu soundtrack to the evening.

It’s these moments between rehearsals where ideas keep moving, new connections take shape, and the creative process continues in unexpected ways.
