Everyone loves a good before and after!
Sanding of the tops went smoothly (see what I did there?) and I was able to remove all of the scratches that I was afraid would be too deep. Here's a look at a freshly sanded top compared to how it started.
I also cleaned up the metal feet. I couldn't believe how much gunk I was able to get off! It was a pretty easy process. I put some really hot water and a little dish soap in an old bowl and let them soak for about 15 minutes. After that I brushed them with a nylon brush then gave them a good scrubbing with steel wool. Finally, I put a couple coats of clear poly on them to seal and protect them.
Now all that's left is to put the tops and bottoms back together, do any paint touch ups that need to be done, seal the paint with a couple coats of wax, then they should be ready to go!
