The 5th Annual Newport Performing Arts Festival is proud to present its closing concert to benefit Samaritan House. Join us Saturday, August 8 at 2pm in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church to witness a performance by attendees of festival. With support from staff pianists Milo Graamans and Stephanie Lynne Smith, this is a wonderful showcase of heart and soul by people from around the country who have gathered together for a week of joy!

Presented in two acts, this event is free and open to the public with donations requested for Samaritan House in Newport.

What are you bringing to share for the community altar this year? Our altar is a collective representation of what has brought each one of us to this point in our lives. Some of us think about it for months; others find a nice shell, feather, or rock on the beach the morning of opening session. That, itself, showcases part of who you are and what your journey has been! Give it some thought (or don't!)-- we'll be building our intentional space together come Monday, August 3rd.

The 5th Annual Newport Performing Arts Festival is proud to present its annual public concerts!

Join us Wednesday, August 5 at 7pm in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church for an eclectic display of artistry by our wonderful staff. This concert features performances by Courtney Freed, Julia Francis, Melanie DeMore, Milo Graamans, Stephanie Lynne Smith and more!

AND!

Join us Saturday, August 8 at 2pm in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church to witness a performance by attendees of festival. With support from staff pianists Milo Graamans and Stephanie Lynne Smith, this is a wonderful showcase of heart and soul by people from around the country who have gathered together for a week of joy!

These events are free and open to the public with donations requested for Samaritan House in Newport. Samaritan House is a transitional shelter program that serves families with dependent children experiencing homelessness.

INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT: Courtney Freed

Courtney is a dynamic vocalist in a class all her own. She is a Portland based singer, songwriter, creatrix, and educator with a theater degree from Loyola Marymount University. Her workshops this year include Songwriting, Vocal Jazz, and Singing Your Truth, as well as a daily incorporation of Singer's Gym to start everyone's day off well.

Courtney has been part of NPAF for many years and we are thankful that she continues to brighten our community with her energy and knowledge!

INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT: Julia Francis

Julia is a singer-songwriter, sound therapist, actor, and teaching artist. She facilitates sound encounters that create space for expansion, inspiration, and deep healing. Her workshops at NPAF include Acting for Singers, Promoting Yourself as an Artist, and Songwriting. She will be closing each day of Festival with "Be the Bowl."

We are thrilled to have Julia joining us at Festival again this year. If you want to join us, day rates are still available!

Richard Jung is at it again! This solo show has an impressive mix of Jazz, Broadway, and arrangements specifically for him. Featuring Stephanie Lynne Smith on piano and special guest Hannah Hillebrand. Streaming live on the Miss Smith Presents YouTube Channel.

INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT: Melanie DeMore

Melanie is a 3-time Grammy-nominated singer/composer, choral conductor, music director, and vocal activist who believes in the power of voices raised together. She uses her voice as a "weapon of mass connection" and, to borrow from her bio, “her mission is to make sure you unlock the key to experiencing yourself in all your Glory and return home with the very same excitement and passion for living that she herself has.”

We are delighted and blessed to be welcoming Melanie to Festival for the first time! Her workshops at NPAF include Song Leading, Singing Your Truth, and Songwriting. On Wednesday the 5th, she will be leading all attendees in a specialty workshop on Spirituals.

If you want to take part in these amazing opportunities, day rates are still available!
