On Thursday, Feb 29, we hosted our annual Choral Invitational! Choirs from Maury HS, Summit Christian Academy, Courtland HS, and Massaponax HS each participated in a clinic led by our own Dr. Irving, enjoyed a campus tour, and performed in our concert at the end of the day. The concert also featured the CNU Chamber Choir and two of CNU's acapella groups, and . Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event happen and thank you to the schools who attended!

On February 9 & 10, CNU hosted the District 8 Choir event! Middle and high school choristers from around the Hampton Roads area came together for a packed weekend of rehearsals and a performance at the end. ACDA volunteers helped set up the rehearsal spaces, sold concessions to the hungry middle and high schoolers, made sure the directors had everything they needed, and more. Volunteers were also able to observe rehearsals and learn new rehearsal techniques. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!!

Happy Spring Break Captains! As our CNU ACDA members begin their well-deserved break, we’d like to reflect on what an amazing semester we have had so far!

In the first photo, we have a few of our ACDA Music Education Majors posing in a “solfége scale” after a productive and informative NAfME Professional Development Workshop!

Second, we have a picture taken after our semesterly Rotunda Concert. The students pictured are our music major seniors in the CNU Choirs. Quite a few of these seniors are our very own ACDA members!

Third, a few of our ACDA members volunteered to help lead sectionals and observe for the Virginia Children’s Chorus (VCC)! Our members had such a wonderful time engaging with the students and were so grateful for the experience!

Finally, high school and college choirs are pictured enjoying a catered lunch after a successful chorale invitational! Our very own President, Morgan Kelso, planned and arranged the CNU Choral Invitational. ACDA at CNU has not been able to host the event since before the pandemic in 2020, so we were absolutely ecstatic to be able to hear and interact with all the wonderful high school and on-campus choirs that participated!

We are so excited to introduce this year’s Secretary, Mariah Shealor!

Mariah is a second year transfer from Rocky, Virginia who is majoring in Music Education. Some fun facts about Mariah is that she loves to bake, plays piano, and has an unhealthy obsession with the TV show “Friends.”

For day one of our E-board introductions, we have Kayleigh Sprouse!

Kayleigh is returning as ACDA’s Historian this year. She is a junior here at CNU majoring in vocal performance with minors in leadership studies and theater. She is originally from Fishersville, Virginia. Some fun facts about Kayleigh is that she worked at Busch Gardens this summer and was friends with some very popular Sesame Street characters. She also had the amazing opportunity to sing an aria with the CNU Orchestra last semester.
