Been working on the gouache panorama over a course of pool visits. In an attempt to simplify I may have ruined it. Usually simplifying strengthens overall effect. I guess I’ll see what today brings!

Beach House

American Beach on Amelia Island is a very special place, though its history is disintegrating with every return visit. Once a beach for African Americans, those historic beach houses are being cleared to make way for new monstrosities and a complete turnover of the whole place. I don’t know what happened to the original inhabitants of this historic beach, but the structures that once held those stories are slowly being erased.Progress? Who am I to judge. I will say I’m not a fan of bulldozing the old for the new just to make more money off of rental property.

A little idea. Thought I would play around in a square with this one. I had plans of doing it in a horizontal 1:2 that would be fun, too. I love driving around early in the mornings and seeing what my haunts are looking like. This one is potent in the morning. The streets belong to me at that time, too.
