3 new paintings!!! I was recently commissioned to make a painting for a medical center located nearby. I challenged myself to make 3 separate paintings for the client to choose from….. which one did she choose??? 👇drop your guess below!! “A Fool’s Spring”, “Lemoncholie”, and “In the Thicket”.

“Michelle’s Garden” has had some changes!! 2nd photo shows the old painting but this year it got an upgrade. I wanted to showcase her gorgeous peonies which have just started to bloom. I saw a quote that “a garden of purple is always in bloom” so this painting is a nod to my beautiful neighbor’s garden.

In the Chicken Coop is a lively tumble of color and movement, capturing the cheerful chaos of a busy morning among feathers and straw. Bright reds, sunny yellows, and sky blues collide in quick, playful strokes, while looping white forms hint at the shapes of hens, eggs, or nesting boxes without ever fully settling into place. The painting feels noisy, warm, and wonderfully unruly—like stepping into the coop just as everything has come alive.

Thank goodness for AI….. my description would have been eggs in a coop. 😂 16”x20” on stretched linen.

The tale of two: Well I started painting again…. Yes I came out of my hibernation (December-March) and got back into my art studio, aka shed. I wanted to paint something that would sell, something for the mass market, and something that I could produce over and over again. So I painted 2 pots with abstract flowers/leaves. A style you’ve seen a thousand times before and you know what… I was bored out of my mind. Now the 2nd painting that I did was spontaneous, I didn’t know where the brushstroke was going to take me. I never felt more free. So my takeaway is paint what you love and not for it to “sell”. You’ll eventually find your people and they will appreciate your painting style. Now I’m off to paint over the flower pots and make something that I love!!

2 back to back shows that flopped!! It’s hard to keep up my spirits when both shows were duds and I lost more money than I made…. But I do have some positives that I need to remind myself of!! 1. I learned about that may be a better fit for me. 2. I learned how to improve my booth/tent if I ever decide to do another outdoor fair. 3. I received plenty of compliments on how happy my art feels & looks (although I had one lady who said I might need therapy, no joke). 4. Finally, my family is proud of me and in the end, that’s all that matters. So onward and upward towards my next learning experience. One minute I’m making paintings for the Atlanta Art Fair… next I’m sewing pumpkins to add to my Art booth at the Makers & Music Festival in Trillith. The Festival is Saturday, October 4th from 3pm-9pm in the town of Trillith. Hope to see you there!!
