For some families, racing is far more than just a hobby or a sport. Instead, it’s a tradition. Passed down from father to son or spread all through the family tree. Few families are more synonymous with micro sprint racing in the northeast than the Skias family. And since the passing of Pete Skias in August of 2024, few events have been bigger than the now-annual “Pistol Pete Duels,” a $3,008-to-win race run in memory of Pete and promoted by his son Nick, Nick’s wife Megan, and the entire Skias family.

In the second “Duel” and the second year of the event, Nick Skias – the newly-minted five-time track champion of the Clyde – capped off a dream season by scoring one of the most meaningful and special victories of his racing career. Skias held off Jason Swavely in an instant classic to put the Weinhold’s Poultry No. 3 Viper Chassis owned by his uncle Chuck and once raced by his father Pete back in the winner’s circle in one of the most-popular and heart-tugging triumphs at the racetrack in recent memory.

Rule change proposals that were submitted for the 2027 season will be discussed and voted on at the member meeting on Monday, October 12th. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM and takes place at the track.
