๐ค CONFIDENCE IS BUILT THROUGH PRACTICE, NOT JUST KNOWLEDGE!
One of the biggest misconceptions about becoming a confident Samoan orator is believing that once you've learned the structure of a lauga, memorized the faโalupega, and studied the cultural protocols, you're ready to stand and speak.
But knowing something and being able to put that knowledge into practice are two different things!
Think about it.
You can study the structure of a lauga for months. You can listen to experienced Tulฤfale deliver beautiful speeches. You can even write out your own lauga from beginning to end.
But until you actually stand up and practice delivering it, there's an important part of your development that remains untouched.
Practice helps you:

Become comfortable hearing your own voice.
โ
Improve your pronunciation, pacing, and delivery.
โ
Identify areas where you need improvement.
โ
Learn to manage nervousness and maintain composure.
โ
Develop the confidence to speak without relying entirely on written notes.
And remember, you don't need a large audience to begin practicing!
Start in front of a mirror. Record yourself on your phone. Practice with family members or someone knowledgeable who can provide constructive feedback.
Most importantly, don't wait until you're called upon to represent your family before you start preparing yourself.
The confidence you develop today may make all the difference when your family needs you tomorrow.
