This Friday, Theater in the Open is bringing Bar(d) to the Beverly Fringe Festival for one night only!

Beverly Fringe Fest celebrates creativity, experimentation, and the incredible artists who make our communities vibrant. As a company that believes theater belongs everywhere, we're thrilled to be a part of its inaugural season.

Bar(d) is Shakespeare with a twist: the audience chooses the play, the actors receive their cue scripts moments before the performance, and absolutely anything can happen. It's unpredictable, interactive, and a whole lot of fun.

If you're looking for a unique night out, come grab a drink, support local artists, and help us celebrate the launch of a brand-new arts festival in Beverly.

This is your last chance to sign up to audition for A Midsummer Night's Dream!

Performances will take place the last weekend in July and the first weekend in August. Additional dates for touring will be confirmed in consultation with cast. Most performances will take place outside– comfort with outdoor performance (and suncreen and bugspray) is essential.

What happens when fairies interfere with human hearts? In A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, mistaken identities, enchanted forests, and chaotic romance create one of theater’s most beloved comedies. This collaborative production will be created through an ensemble-driven process, centering movement, physical storytelling, and shared artistic discovery. Elizabethan actors didn’t have a director to give them blocking, and neither will we; our blocking will be new and dynamic for every performance as the ensemble reacts to new choices made and new games played. Our rehearsal process therefore will focus less on text and more on ensemble movement.
