Strongroom is a 501(c)(3) non profit arts organization based in Newburgh, NY with a mission to bring arts programming and contemporary art exhibitions to the city of Newburgh in Orange County, NY. Formed in 2016, Strongroom programming takes place in pop up venues and is primarily focused on solo installations in spaces that aim to activate both architecture and artwork, while providing quality art experiences for the local community and visitors alike.

That’s a wrap! Huge gratitude to everyone involved in the presentation of “Holding Light Sutra” - especially Millicent Young who brought so
much careful thought, emotion, and generosity to this ambitious and heartfelt piece. And thank you to everyone who came to experience it. The conversations and reactions to the work remind us that art can bring understanding and healing, and spark meaningful collaboration.

Last chance! This weekend we bid farewell to Millicent Young’s “Holding Light Sutra”
The installation will be open 12-5 this Saturday July 11th and Sunday July 12th.
***On Sunday from 5-7 pm please join us for a slide presentation and discussion with Millicent, who will share insights into the development and process of making and presenting this work. Two weekends left to experience Millicent Young’s “Holding Light Sutra”
Open this weekend July 4 and 5, and next weekend July 11 and 12 from 12-5pm. There will be a closing reception on the 12th from 4-7. Don’t miss it!
On view at Safe Harbor’s Ritz Theater Stagehouse, 100 Ann St, Newburgh NY
(And yes, these 70-foot (!?) masonry walls are keeping the space cool!! )

On view in the historic Ritz theater, surrounded by masonry walls 60?! feet high, Millicent’s delicate suspended sculpture absorbs the weight of its projections in an emotional 20 minute loop. Open 12-5 on weekends and every day for (June 25-29).

Now open! Thanks to everyone who joined us for the opening reception and artist discussion with Millicent Young on Saturday. After much meticulous planning and a whirlwind week of installing, it was amazing to hear everyone’s thoughts and reactions! “Holding Light Sutra” will be on view weekends 12-5pm through July 12th at the Safe Harbors’ Ritz Theater Stagehouse, 100 Ann Street in Newburgh. A big thanks to the village that helped make this happen, especially the team at Safe Harbors! young
