Larry Bird Humiliates Rookies in a Shootout using His Left Hand
Larry Bird, coaching at Indiana, challenged a few rookies, including Al Harrington, to a three-point shootout. He was always testing players' mental toughness with trash talk, but this time, he took it to another level.
The rookies accepted the challenge, only to get completely destroyed by Bird, who talked trash the entire time—telling them they didn’t belong in the league, they couldn’t shoot, and that he was never going to play them. These were guys who constantly bragged about their shooting, claiming they were the new generation of elite shooters.
As Bird was leaving the gym, the rookies asked for a rematch. Meanwhile, Reggie Miller, practicing on the other side of the floor, casually told them, "By the way, you know he’s not left-handed, right?"
Turns out, Bird had been shooting left-handed the whole time. Harrington was so shocked that he immediately went to the tape guy and asked him to pull Bird’s game footage. Bird, of course, just cussed the rookies out and never gave them the rematch.
