20 year old Watercolor, Gouache, and graphite pencil artist The "Mercy" in Art by Mercy is inspired by my name, Mercedes.

The name Mercedes means "merciful servant of the Lord." My hope is that through my business I can serve my Lord with mercy and repentance. I loved drawing throughout my entire childhood and that has branched into something much larger. As of right now, my art consists of peaceful nature scenes. Some of these may include a Bible verse, and some might just be the art. I began accepting commissions pretty early, and I still enjoy taking them. I hope this business is able to grow, and glorify God through it!

🌼 gentle and lowly 🌼

I painted this yesterday, wanting to experiment with texture and a different style than I normally use. When I finished it the painting reminded me of one of the recent sermons at my church. It made me think of the gentle and lowly character of Jesus. I think nature, His creation often reflects who He is, and I see that in this painting.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

The Storybook Adventure Begins ✨📖

Introducing the tale of Ricky the Raccoon and one of his many adventures. My grandpa, Steve Crouse, has been telling these stories to his children and grandchildren over the years. My hope is to help bring these stories to life with illustrations, and to continue passing on the wisdom held in each book. My grandpa and I will be working together to bring this book and others to life!

Ricky the Raccoon is considered the wisest of the animals in a small woods. All of the other critters of this woods come to him with their problems, and receive his wisdom whether they are truly looking for it or not. Each of these stories tells the tale of a different animal needing the guidance Ricky can give through the wisdom he receives from the Bible.

I began illustrating this book about a year ago with a different art style, but decided to go a different route with the style and layout. If you are interested in this book, follow along on the illustration process!

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

Lately I have been inactive on social media due to busyness; but I have finally finished painting this collection of original art! Two of these pieces are inspired by local places in Newaygo, MI area. The other two are inspired by the beach in Frankfort, MI. The reference photos for these paintings were all taken by me, omitting the one of the Frankfort pier which was provided by one of my younger cousins during a family camping trip:) Huge thank you to my mom for taking all these beautiful pictures! "Come and See"

My new watercolor painting for this Easter! Celebrating the most significant time in history - Jesus' death and resurrection. No love story can compare to this love story of the Creator dying for the people He created. Through His death, we can live!

Home looks like different things for different people. For me, Home is a place of warmth, safety, and love. Jesus Christ is the definition of those three things in my life. He is the glowing cabin in a dark woods. He is the essence of love and security. He is my feeling of Home. 🤍

"It feels like Home" is my final winter piece, as I am going to transition into spring themed artwork very soon!

Hello everybody!

This commission has been keeping me real busy right up until Christmas. Now you can all see some of what I've been working on! The time and effort I put into this piece was definitely worth it; I am so happy with the finished painting.

This painting is of a significant oak tree on a family's farm here in Michigan. It is a gift for a father, from his son. He hopes that this piece can be passed on for years to come within the family. I am so glad that this piece will be going to a loving home!

I also learned a lot about painting with Gouache and am sure that it will impact my future art pieces. The size of the painting was a little daunting at first, but once I got past the starting point everything went pretty smoothly.

I'll be putting some close up pictures/process pictures up on my story if you would like to see them.

My commissions will be opening back up sometime after Christmas. My commission information is available on my website. (artbymercy.com)

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Love, Mercedes 🫶🏼
