I came across this picture a while ago but something about it…well mainly his eyes just reminded me of home. “Home” for me will always be coconut ‘wata,’ some ackee and salt fish, reggae music. The list would go on and on.

“Rasta” will be on view at the Newark Arts headquarters from Thursday, October 7th through Sunday, October 10th.

Last weekend, I joined has they led the initiative to repaint the 🗣ABOLISH WHITE SUPREMACY mural in the .

It was beautiful to see how many people answered the call to create and share by showing up and showing out for their community.

I don’t have that much footage of this painting because most of it was painted on live. Right now it’s about 85% done. .
P.S I absolutely love this song. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to it especially while painting. The whole message is dedicated to people who have dreams but might be just starting out or doubting yourself. I think as creators we all go through those moments but hearing from someone else so influential that they been through those moments too, let’s you know your not alone and everything you dream of doing is still possible.

This is my current bedroom studio set up. If you saw my story a few days ago, I talked about the struggle of trying to set up a space that would help to combat this lack of motivation I feel now that my work life and home life have merged into one. Most of my inspiration comes from how I interact with the (outside) world. I love being able to leave a painting and come back to it. That’s how I work through all my ideas.

Last week I went as far as moving my studio easel and my paints into the living room. That worked for a little while but then my best Fran kindly told me “Absolutely TF Not”. After some not so “subtle” hints, she kindly packed up my stuffed and moved it back into my room. So here I am this week, finally back to creating again and I’m loving every minute of it.
