We are actively monitoring the weather for our Friends & Family Show tomorrow, Saturday, August 22 at 5 PM.

Due to the possible conditions, we would also like to invite all family, friends, and members of the greater Blue Hen community to join us TONIGHT from 6:30–9:00 PM on Frazer Field, behind the Lil Bob Gym, for an open rehearsal! Full runs will begin around 8 PM.

Guests attending our open rehearsal must remain on the grass and may not pass the asphalt walkway in front of the field. This helps us prevent any interference with our practice. Please bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on.

Parking:
The best places to park are Trabant Parking Garage or University Lot 19. Both are pay-to-park through the Passport Parking app. To enter the field, walk alongside the left side of the Lil Bob Gym.

PLEASE NOTE that at the conclusion of our block at 9 PM, the band will transition to sectionals inside. This will be a CLOSED REHEARSAL. No guests will be permitted to enter our indoor rehearsal space.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, the UDMB raised an astonishing $1,276 for UDance as of 12 PM!🎗️Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this possible.

We plan to livestream Dr. Johnson and the drum majors getting pied in the face around 5 PM on our Instagram.

We’re on a mission to raise $700 for UDance this week. If we get there, Dr. Johnson and all five drum majors are taking pies straight to the face — LIVE!

Here’s how you can make it happen:
1. Venmo (@ shannondawson) with “UDance” in the note
2. Band members can give cash to Shannon.
3. Donate through your favorite band member’s UDance page (ask them for the link!)
4. Donate to the UDMB UDance page https://tr.ee/7_x8t_h5F_

And there’s more: if we hit $700, the top three fundraisers get the ultimate prize—the chance to throw the pie themselves at a person of their choice.

The University of Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hen Marching Band is saddened to share the passing of alumna Helen King Spence.

Helen was the daughter of J. Robert King, the first director of the UDMB, who founded our program 80 years ago. She marched cymbals in the UDMB from 1972–1975 and graduated from the University of Delaware in 1976. She went on to become a beloved member of our Alumni Band Drumline and a lifelong supporter of the UDMB.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her husband, Stan, her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
