Our 2026 Cecil’s World Classic School Supply giveaway was a success thanks our partners and the community who came out on Sunday!

Huge thank you to the following organizations:
➡️ CBIV Legacy for Life Foundation and their supporters who donated book bags and all the supplies, showed up to volunteer, grill (Matthew Johnson) and serve our community!
➡️ Kenny Family Foundation & ShopRite for providing all the food & drinks
➡️ Blood Bank of Delmarva for hosting our Blood 🩸 Drive along with William Garrett for encouraging his friends and family to donate.
➡️ Living The Dream Corvette Club for coming through with their corvettes! The kids and families loved seeing them!

Congratulations to our YOY, Zy’Rin S. who was awarded a scholarship to continue his education at Temple University in the Fall, thanks to Cecil Bond and his foundation committee.

Another successful year of serving our community in memory of one of our club kids whose life was taken from us at a young age but his memory remains in our hearts and lived out through our actions. 💙🫶🏼

On February 26, 1994, the doors of the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club opened for the 1st time and Mr. Stu was there to welcome kids and families!

For 32 years, Stu’s leadership, program ideas and genuine love for our mission filled our building. He was our 3rd Executive Director and held that position the longest until he moved into a statewide position. But his heart was never far from our Club!

The impact that Stu had on our club will never fit into one post but every time you walk through the doors and you see kids laughing, having fun and enjoying programming know that it’s a seed that Stu planted that is now blooming!

This isn’t goodbye because the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club will always be his home, so we will just see you later Stu Sherman!
Thank you for your lasting impact on our staff, our kids and our family! 💙🫶🏼
