IN THE WAKE TV, in partnership with Newark Culture Club, has announced the launch of “Black House Black Joy NJ,” an exclusive film screening series taking place every Saturday evening throughout September. The series will officially debut on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

Hosted at Newark Culture Club (located at 563 Broad Street), the series is dedicated to honoring and uplifting the deeply rooted history of Black and LGBTQ+ contributions to house music. NEWARK, NJ – August 21, 2026 —

IN THE WAKE TV, in partnership with Newark Culture Club, is thrilled to announce the launch of "Black House Black Joy NJ," an exclusive weekly film screening series taking place every Saturday this September.

The series will officially debut on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 5:00 PM, bringing the vibrant cultural history of the house music community to the heart of downtown Newark.

Hosted at Newark Culture Club (563 Broad St, Newark, NJ), the "Black House Black Joy" series is dedicated to celebrating the rich, deeply rooted history of Black and LGBTQ+ contributions to house music and culture.

Each screening throughout the month will highlight stories, visual projects, and films that explore the unifying and transformative power of this musical movement.

"Newark has a profound connection to house music, and this film series is a love letter to the community that built it," said Antoinette Montague, Producer of the project. "Through 'Black House Black Joy,' we aim to center our cultural history, celebrate our resilience, and create a joyous space for connection, reflection, and community building."

Attendees can expect thought-provoking cinema alongside an engaging atmosphere at downtown Newark's premier craft cocktail bar and live entertainment venue, which proudly features local and Black-owned spirits, beers, and wines.
