I wanted to share info for an upcoming theatre production from Yendor, coming to Newark Symphony Hall for the upcoming Newark Arts Festival. The play, called Quarter Rican, is a one person show about the complexities of identity for a mixed race Puerto Rican American, and his challenges entering into fatherhood.

We're excited to program Newark Symphony Hall for the first time, as a part of our theatre in residency there (which was a dream of Rodney's)! I'd love for you to join us! We have in-person (fully vaccinated), as well as, live stream ticket options.

Best,
Andrew Binger, Artistic Director

Yendor Theatre Company presents, Quarter Rican, a one-person show, written and performed by Gabriel Hernández; Directed by Jorge Merced.

Announcing the THRIVE! Living Logo Project

TCG is pleased to announce the launch of THRIVE!, a regranting program to provide unrestricted funds and professional development and technical assistance for U.S.-based Black, Indigenous, Theatres of Color (BITOC). With $1,635,000 in support from Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, TCG is working in partnership with an Advisory Circle of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) to craft a program that will include regranting, leadership development, convening, and widespread dissemination of learnings. At the core of this new program is a call for emergent, complex thinking to help BITOC thrive and reach their highest potential, with opportunities for reflection and collective action. Read more about the program here.

TCG is inviting artists that are 18-35 years old who identify as BIPOC, POC, or People of the Global Majority (PGM) and who are interested in creating visual representations to be utilized as the THRIVE! Program’s rotating logo.

We are seeking two representations of the THRIVE! Logo from different artists which will express and celebrate the rich visual identity of BIPOC/POC/PGM arts and culture. Artists will be compensated and credited for their work.

Why a “living logo”?
Logos are commonly created to be a single recognizable symbol for an idea, company or organization. However, recent movements have emphasized the constancy of change in our daily lives and the vibrant multiplicity of faces that embody U.S. culture. We strongly believe that BIPOC/POC/PGM are not monolithic, and therefore representations of this program by, for and about BIPOC/POC/PGM should not be either.
