We created this custom reef aquarium for our client’s beautiful office in the Financial District with an incredible views of NYC Downtown, Verrazano Bridge and the Statue Of Liberty, as you can partially see in the reflection.

A reef tank is the closest thing to the reefs in the ocean that you can put in a glass box. Due to the size difference, the things you put in your reef tank have to get along with each other. In the ocean, a species being predated by another can move or migrate to a safer area. In a closed system like your 150-500 gallon tank, the opportunity to flee is greatly limited. For this reason, the critters that you put in your reef tank have to be able to cohabitate peacefully.

When it comes to aquascaping a reef, for the most part I believe in the “less is more” approach. Take it easy on the live rock and let fish do the talking & the coral grow out over time. This makes for a more natural / modern scape.
