My Roses

There on your wall, I witnessed a shrine.
Bouquets of roses, and one of those mine.
And I relived the day, when our love was still new.
The surprise in your eyes, when I gave them to you.
All these years you have kept them, and I wish that you knew,
How much that it means, they mean that much to you.

As it darkens and chills when the sun goes down, and I go for a walk, around old Chapman town.
From a yard a dog barks, then another one starts. Half a block up the road, the cacophony sparked,
there's a boxer, a pinscher, and two pekingese. But more disconcerting ,than any of these, are the three German Shepherds, and seven Pit mix, who all want to chase me as if I'm a stick.
And there's never a glimpse of an owner in sight, it's as if they can't hear, or don't care their dogs bite.
And if I reach my door, with all of my skin, then I think of those pets; it's not any of them. It's neglect from their owners who simply care less, that their pets are unruly, and annoying at best.
I could feed them all chocolates or a rufie hot dog, but I know in my heart it's no fault of the dogs. So I guess that's the risk, when it really comes down... and I go for a stroll through old Chapman town.
