Founded in 2006, our studio’s signature aesthetic was born with the release of our very first product: the Branching Bubble chandelier, which combines the organic nature of blown glass with more rational, machined components. Since then, we have explored that visual tension throughout a range of products and disciplines. Lighting design is at the core of what we do, but we also work with an expanded materials palette, indulging our preoccupation with a room’s oft-neglected spaces, to create products ranging from concrete tiles to wallpaper. We design, prototype, and build in our New York and Los Angeles studios, and we work with local manufacturers to develop and produce custom parts. Forms and ideas evolve collaboratively through 1:1 model-making and testing. With skill and care, our team of 40+ and a small network of local artisans manufacture each piece. Showrooms in New York and Los Angeles open by appointment only.

Thank you Styles for the profile to celebrate our 20th anniversary!

Adelman has always insisted on retaining full ownership of her business, and has vowed never to sell her brand, since it bears her own name.
The actress Marisa Tomei, who regards Adelman as a “visionary,” sought out the artist, hoping to solve a complex design issue. “I had a very specific spot I needed to mask but also let a lot of light in,” she told me. “She jumped in with a gorgeous bubble chandelier.”

That level of control lets her run things her way — and have fun doing so. In 2015, her team helped her make a music video, “Show Me.” They spent six months rehearsing the choreography during work hours; participation was voluntary and Adelman designed the sets, costumes and jewelry. For another video, she created a slow-motion sequence of a pair of $45,000 chandeliers from her Burst collection colliding and exploding. “Our studio is creatively driven at the core,” Adelman said.

Lately, Adelman has redirected some of her energy toward spiritual pursuits: She is studying somatic therapy, while training to become a breath work facilitator.
“When you’ve been going hard for a long time, it can drain creative joy,” Adelman said. “The way I wanted to celebrate 20 years was to chill out for a minute and work less, frankly. That, to me, feels super creative.”
