MEET GET THIS MONEY PANELIST, ARTIST MONICA HERNANDEZ:
Monica Hernandez’s paintings draw from her background as a Dominican immigrant who moved to the Bronx at the age of six. Receiving her BFA from Hunter College in 2017 and now working out her Brooklyn studio, her paintings engage with the body, desire, s*x, s*xuality, religion, representation, and interiors. Her paintings and scenes are imagined, but they draw from a well of tucked away experiences that range from Catholic guilt to realizing the first time the voice in your head could be switched from Spanish to English.

MEET GET THIS MONEY PANELIST, ARTIST ROCIO MARIE:
Rocio Cabrera ( ), is a Bronx-based multimedia artist who specializes in oil painting, sculpture, and handmade jewelry design. Through the use of wildly vibrant colors, glitter, and fantasy, Rocio is able to lessen the darkness of her themes: isolation, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts. She is known for her distinctive surrealist approach, where color and composition mesh to create an imaginary world where her feminine characters’ experience intense emotions from feeling guilty for being sad to feeling unapologetically confident.

Weirdo of Color Open Mic this Friday hosted by The Odiosas BX collective in the FOR US exhibition ! To perform, sign up when you arrive. Curated by Kiara Ventura, "The Funeral" is a pop-up exhibition and art performance featuring emerging artists that takes the form of a funerary wake. Curated alongside spoken word artist, Karina Vega a.k.a Writersblock, the event is inspired around her upcoming poetry book that unapologetically reveals her personal thoughts on heartache, societal acceptance, fear, and the notion of death. The event as a whole will serve as her funeral in which she will be performing her art piece through out the whole night. Her motivation behind this art performance is to challenge the notion of death and to emphasize that she will always live through her art and writing. Taking the form of relational art (coined by historian Nicolas Bourriaud), all participants and visitors must wear all black.
Featuring upcoming visual artists and performers, this night is dedicated to pushing the public to see new perspectives on the notion of death, fear, and heartache. As always, ArtsyWindow aims to provide a platform of understanding and inspiration in efforts to get its visitors to connect on a emotional or deep level.
