I Could Never Love Anyone

I Could Never Love Anyone "I could never love anyone..." is the story of three sisters and their battle with addiction. Conceived and Choreographed by Katharine Pettit.

I COULD NEVER LOVE ANYONE... is a new dance theater piece that tells the story of three sisters struggling with addiction. Told entirely through choreography and the powerful R&B music of Mr. Hudson and Wiz Kilo, we've had several presentations of the work so far:

October 2014, as part of The Emerging Artist Theater new work series, May 2015, I produced and put on a Benefit at the Hostel Internat

ional NY where we gave a sneak peek of upcoming new vignettes from I COULD NEVER LOVE ANYONE... and raised money to donate to New Hope Manor in upstate NY which focuses on the treatment of women fighting addiction. February 2016 Green Space's Take Root Initiative gave life to a more fleshed out show
July 2016 we pre-premiered I COULD NEVER LOVE ANYONE... in NY Theatre Barn's New Works Series at The Cell. The title comes from "Little Women" in which Jo declares she could "never love anyone as much as she loves her sisters". I began this piece as a way to work through my own grief and pain over my sister's addiction and now the piece has grown to help and illuminate the issue for the millions who suffer every day in silence, not just the addicts, but their loved ones, afraid of the stigma attached to this disorder. Creating I COULD NEVER LOVE ANYONE... continues to be a journey; discovering the depths of human emotion, the limitless nature of LOVE & the unfailing ability of people to inspire the shape of the work... I'm endlessly grateful to each of my fellow creatives along the way. I asked them to put into their own words their experiences with I COULD NEVER LOVE ANYONE...

I'll share a couple a day leading up to the Benefit ONE WEEK FROM TONIGHT... ***Link to tickets in comments below***

"I became involved with I Could Never Love Anyone... in its earliest stages. Katie knew she wanted to tell a story about the fierce love between sisters & how addiction is threatening to tear them apart. Being in the room as she discovered the shape of that story was truly magical and life changing. I think, as consumers of media, people have become completely over saturated with "talk". What Katie has managed to create with I Could Never Love Anyone... is storytelling in its most visceral form. I'm so proud to have played a role in this piece and forever proud to be part of the KPC family."

"Being a part of bringing this piece to life was truly an experience I will never forget. The conversations we had in developing and deepening our understanding about addiction is knowledge that I'll have with me forever. The journey we took every time we danced I Could Never Love Anyone... was euphoric, heavy, raw, and ultimately cathartic and uplifting."
