Let’s talk!
 On Tuesday, October 6th at 8pm we’re hosting a virtual Community Forum to hear your feedback on how the CPDSA is doing & how we can improve for the end of this season & beyond.

We’ll be focusing on three questions to guide our discussion: 1) What would you like to see happen in the circle that isn’t currently taking place?
2) How can we change the culture of the circle to be a safer and more supportive place for everyone?
3) When conflict arises, what specific accountability processes would you like to see?

Ground rules for this discussion: refrain from using names when describing specific incidents; no interrupting; keep language respectful and non-accusatory; try not to repeat what’s already been said; limit comments to 1 minute. Our focus in this forum is addressing systemic issues: culture, boundaries, and behavior.

✨ Saturday, October 3: Silent H B2B Professa Prince ✨
Silent H is a Brooklyn-based selector inspired by the dance floor and the roller rink. What started as a love for dancing and skating naturally led her to the decks, where she shapes a sound that resonates with her communities. She brings soulful, high-energy sets that stay true to the culture. Grounded in rhythm and connection, she creates spaces where music, movement, and community come together. She’s played at Brooklyn Skates and Xanadu and is also a resident of Love City, a collective producing events across the city.

Prince fell in love with house music in 2023, when he met two friends that he’d made online in person. They kept him up playing their favorite house music hits. Prince, historically an R&B lover, was euphoric listening to the genre. House felt like the start of a new chapter for his life. And he decided he wanted to share that feeling with everyone. He started making long playlists to play off his laptop at parks around the city, and as he performed, he watched how people reacted, and adjusted his songs accordingly. Since that early endeavor, Professa Prince has become a fixture in Bed Stuy’s vibrant Herbert Von King park where he spins for the community and dancers alike.

✨ Sunday, October 4: DJ KWEST ✨
DJ Kwest (Victor West) is a native New Yorker, born and raised on the music and vibes of the Upper West Side. A classically trained musician, West turned his talents towards DJ-ing in the mid 90’s, but growing up he was always the guy bringing records to a party. He has been the resident/guest DJ for major corporations, fashion houses and high end retailers and has played corporate events at Waldorf Astoria Ballroom, the Mandarin Orient Ballroom and Studio 54. His biggest delight is playing for the CPDSA and the passers by in Central Park.

CPDSA Elections are coming up!

Voting will take place virtually from October 11-12. Only CPDSA members may participate in the election, so ensure that your membership is up to date!

Labor Day was one to remember! ✨

DJ Mike Dominico graced the decks, Honey Baby Skates & Service made their Central Park debut, we sold CPDSA shirts & historical timelines, and basked in the sunshine of a beautiful day spent with chosen family.

Thank you to Bob Dea for capturing our 2nd family photo of the season (as well as all of these other amazing pics) & for being such an uplifting member of our community.

Our next 2 days in the park are September 19 + 20 — mark your calendars! We can’t wait to see you again soon.

Monday, September 7:
Playing the city’s largest and most alluring nightclubs and event spaces, DJ Mike Dominico has carved a definitive niche with his versatility and trademark style of blending genres and musical eras.Dominico has been playing in the Central Park Skate Circle since the early 2000’s and is known as a celebrated veteran DJ by the CPDSA community.

Support the CPDSA with a T-shirt purchase while supplies last, by becoming a member, and/or by making a tax deductible donation!

Honey Baby Skates & Service will be tabling in the Skate Circle with skate gear for sale as well as quick diagnostics, bearing / wheel changes, toe stop / jam plug adjustments & installations, & more! CPDSA members get discounts on product, labor, and tune-ups (dependent on membership tier)
