Founded in 1983, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is one of America’s most prominent flamenco companies.

Our mission is to promote flamenco as a living art form and a vital part of Hispanic heritage, produce and perform high quality dance works, and provide arts education programs that catalyze connections among young people, while nurturing the new generations of Spanish dance artists and educators. We believe that the universal spirit of flamenco – with diverse influences from Arab, Jewish, Gitano,

Spanish, African and Latin American cultures – gives this art form a unique power to build bridges between people.

📣 We are thrilled to announce that we will be adding a NEW level to Flamenco Certamen this year! The competition will now include Escenario level for professional flamenco artists in addition to our Estudio and Tablao levels. We want to celebrate our 11th annual Certamen by bringing artists of all experiences together for the opportunity to showcase their growing artistry and win cash prizes and scholarships to study and perform across the world. Applications will open May 30th!

Emmy Semprun Named Flamenco Vivo's Summer 2025 Artist in Residence

We are excited to announce that Emmy Semprun () is Flamenco Vivo's Summer 2025 Artist in Residence. The AiRE (Artist in Residence Exchange) program includes 100 hours of free studio space, coaching, resources, and the opportunity for an in-studio showing. Emmy is a 24-year-old flamenco dancer and current PhD student at Columbia, studying embodiment and movement as means of learning and understanding the world. During her residency, Emmy will be developing a work that explores the conversations between West African and flamenco dance.

I'm curious about the rhythmic conversations - how flamenco's compás and West African polyrhythms create something new together, and what happens when different footwork techniques challenge each other." - Emmy Semprun
