The joy and feeling of community at Dance Parade and DanceFest is a feeling we will carry until next year! Our mission is to inspire dance through
the celebration of cultural equity & diversity. On Saturday May 21, 2022 the 16th Annual Dance
Parade and Festival will be the world’s largest
display of cultural diversity. The parade route starts on 21st street at 1pm
through Union Square to a Grandstand in Astor Place. Concluding the
parade is DanceFest on 5 stages in
Tompkins Square Park. Dance Parade’s Community Engagement
Programs allow participants of all ages –
from schools to community and senior centers
– an opportunity to discover their own innate
capacity for the communication of ideas,
thoughts, and feelings through the medium of
dance. Program groups often culminate their
explorations by performing in the Parade and
in Dance Fest.

The month of October commemorates the arrival of the first Filipinos in Morro Bay, California and is meant to focus more on historical events and the contributions and impact of Filipinos and Filipino Americans to society.

Looking back on 20 years of Dance Parade on this rainy weekend on the East Coast we are reminded to be lucky enough to not have so much rain on our parade. At least two rainy years come to mind including 2023. It was still quite memorable because our lovely dance groups embraced the rain and still gave it their all! Stay safe everyone, we lament all the dance events and parades that had to be canceled this weekend but we look forward to celebrating with everyone again in a few days.
