Up next in our Programs Gallery, say bonjour to Cuteness, Conservatism, & Consumption: Lefor-Openo and Postwar France. 🇫🇷

Following World War II, Marie-Claire Lefort and Marie-Francine Oppeneau brought their signature vibrant style to posters promoting France’s renewed consumer culture. This exhibition, curated by Poster House’s Executive Director & Curator Angelina Lippert (Angelina), showcases the breadth of Lefor-Openo’s twelve-year career, bringing to light one of Europe’s most unsung female design duos.

Cuteness, Conservatism, & Consumption opens at Poster House on September 25. Head to the link in our bio to plan your visit now! 🔗

Up next in the Main Gallery—Designed to Be Red: Native American & Indigenous Poster Works.

This first-of-its-kind exhibition curated by Brian Johnson (Brian, Monacan Indian Nation) uses posters by Indigenous designers to challenge the long history of appropriated Native American imagery in advertising and symbolism, centering Native Americans, First Nations, Métis, Alaska Natives, and other Indigenous peoples in design history.

Here are just a few of the incredible works that will be on display.

We can’t wait for you to see this breathtaking show in its entirety. Designed to Be Red opens at Poster House on September 25. Head to the link in our bio to plan your visit now! 🔗

Happy birthday to Tomoko Miho, the queen of architectural posters! 🏙️

Upon awarding her the 1993 AIGA Medal, Veronique Vienne of AIGA Design called Miho “the design world’s best-kept secret.” Known for her modern, minimalist work, Miho designed everything from posters to packaging for clients such as Neiman Marcus and Herman Miller. Today would have been her 95th birthday.

This is one of four posters Miho made for a series titled “Aspects of New York.” Can you believe she designed this in 1968?

Ah yes, back when we consumed news consensually…simpler times. 😮‍💨

In our latest article on The Blog, B A Van Sise writes about the history of newspaper advertising, from Soviet propaganda to British tabloids. In an age when fewer and fewer people are consuming news in print, it’s easy to forget how newspapers once competed for our attention—and how they convinced us to pick up a particular paper in the first place.

Oh man, this one hurts. 🩷🦋

R.I.P. Dolly Parton, who passed away at 80 years old today. Credit to America's auction house for this stunning vintage poster advertising Dolly’s 1977 performance at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium. She was on tour for her 18th (EIGHTEENTH!) solo studio album, New Harvest...First Gathering, which was the first she self-produced.

Try and spread a little extra sparkle today. It’s what Dolly would want. ✨
