Nunu Fine Art is honored to announce that Ray IV by American artist Mia Westerlund Roosen has officially entered the permanent collection of the Wright Museum of Art at Beloit College, where it will be installed in front of the museum’s main entrance as a new public art landmark.

Born in New York in 1942, Westerlund Roosen has remained an active figure in American contemporary sculpture since the 1970s. Working across sculpture, painting, and public art, she explores the relationship between materiality, scale, and bodily perception. While her work developed within the contexts of Minimalism and Post-Minimalism, it does not fully adhere to their austere and depersonalized formal language. Instead, through the weight, texture, and structure of materials such as concrete and metal, her work reintroduces corporeality, tactility, and material experience. The acquisition of Ray IV not only marks an important milestone in the artist’s career but also adds a significant chapter to the museum’s collection of contemporary sculpture.

This is the last week to see “Bellmer Nauman Pondick: Material Desire,” an exhibition created in collaboration with Sonnabend and Ubu Galleries currently on view at Nunu Fine Art New York. Closing this Saturday, May 30, 2026, the show brings together the work of three accomplished artists: Hans Bellmer, Bruce Nauman, and Rona Pondick. Though working from differing perspectives, in a wide range of media, and during distinct time periods, together Bellmer, Nauman, and Pondick generate new conversations surrounding engagement with materiality and the human body, subverting preconceived notions and throwing into question the viewer’s reality. We are honored that the exhibition has been reviewed in the New York Times, Studio International, The Brooklyn Rail, Beyond Noise, ArtDaily, Our Culture Magazine, Gazzetta di Mantova, and The Creative Process. Visit our website for additional material on the exhibition.

Please join us in wishing Nancy Bowen a very happy birthday! Born on this day in 1955 in Providence, Rhode Island, Bowen is a mixed-media artist known for her eclectic mixtures of imagery and materials in both two and three dimensions. Her sculpture and drawing exist in an in-between zone of form and idea, abstraction and representation, offering poetic commentary on our rapidly changing material culture.
Next Friday, June 5, 2026, solo exhibition Nancy Bowen: From A to Z and the Bodies in Between will open at Nunu Fine Art New York. The show will feature recent collages as well as sculptural works that bring together an expansive range of materials drawn from nature and the artist’s personal archive. A self-proclaimed “artist-archaeologist,” Bown excavates, recombines and repurposes these elements to subvert long-held narratives surrounding the female body, craft traditions, language, and history. Please join us for the opening reception of this monumental exhibition on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 6-8 pm.
Nancy Bowen’s work has been included in solo and group exhibitions internationally at institutions including the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, Lesley Heller Gallery and Annina Nosei Gallery in NYC, Galerie Farideh Cadot in Paris, and more. Her work is included in collections at the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY; the Peeler Art Center, Depauw University, Greencastle, IN; the Neuberger Museum, Purchase, NY; and the Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, NC. She has won awards from Anonymous was a Woman, the National Endowment of the Arts, the Jentel Foundation, the European Ceramic Work Center, and more. Her work has been written about in journals such as Art in America, Artforum, Glass Magazine, Sculpture Magazine, and a host of newspapers.
Congratulations Nancy, and happy birthday!

Unlike canvas-based practices, “Painting Rules” also presents installation works that use stickers as a primary medium. Functioning as repeatable, detachable, and reconfigurable visual units, the stickers are directly applied within the exhibition space to generate imagery. In doing so, they not only extend Zimmermann’s long-standing interest in image translation but also establish a bridge between his earlier painting practice and his more recent epoxy resin works.

Zimmermann notes, “The patterns behind these stickers, in a way, reveal the background and context of the paintings — where they come from.” For the artist, these images originate from digital operations and processes of translation within the computer, forming what he refers to as a kind of “digital context.”

The stickers themselves draw from a wide range of sources, including political slogans, popular culture, music promotion, and images marked by humor and irony. As Zimmermann describes: “For me, they are like a kind of contemporary poetry. The words themselves carry meaning, but they can also be ironic. When they are placed together within the same pattern, it becomes like a poem — and a poem does not have a single meaning. It is more like a rhythm, a riddle, or a haiku.”

— From an interview with Peter Zimmermann published in 《500輯》, written by Yuan Shih-Pei, April 15, 2026.

Nunu Fine Art currently also carries publications by, featuring important works and documentation of the artist’s practice over the years. For inquiries, please contact [email protected] or visit the gallery for more information.

We are pleased to congratulate artist Caroline Monnet on her solo exhibition "Pizandawatc / The One Who Listens" at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec. The show, open until September 8th, 2026, brings together a selection of works in wood, bronze, and textiles to reveal her strong command of materiality and distinct visual language.

The exhibition’s title, "Pizandawatc"—translated to English as “the one who listens”-- refers to the traditional name of Monnet’s maternal family before French missionaries imposed new surnames on Canada’s indigenous populations. The title also honors the artist’s great-grandmother, Mani Pizandawatc, who was the first family member to experience the fragmentation of her ancestral lands into reserves. The exhibition itself becomes an act of cultural reclamation, in which Monnet explores memory, land, and resilience in the face of historic erasure.

The exhibition was recently written about in Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail, read more at this link: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/art-and-architecture/article-montreal-sculptor-caroline-monnet-museum-history-art/

我們很高興恭賀藝術家 卡洛琳・莫內(Caroline Monnet)於加拿大魁北克加蒂諾的 加拿大歷史博物館(Canadian Museum of History)舉辦個展「Pizandawatc / The One Who Listens」。

We are honored to share the latest news of artist Lu Guan-Hong, whose work is featured in "Material Extensions" at Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TFAM), widely recognized as the most iconic institution of contemporary art in Taiwan.

Lu Guan-Hong’s practice excels at embedding playful irony within blurred narrative structures. By creating absurd juxtapositions of scenes and figures, he constructs a calm yet tense sense of humor.

In "Material Extensions," Lu further explores how "material" intervenes and reshapes human lifestyles. Within a contemporary society defined by consumerism and symbolism, he uses a unique visual language to deconstruct the symbiotic relationship between humans and objects, production and consumption. He transforms the flow of materials into a black-humorist inquiry into our current state of existence.

Here’s a sneak peek inside the fully illustrated catalog “Bellmer Nauman Pondick: Material Desire” made to accompany the exhibition of the same name currently on view at Nunu Fine Art: New York.

“Fleshing Out,” an original essay by art historian and curator Dr. Albert Godetzky, is featured in the catalog alongside reproductions of both the work on view and other pieces by the artists not included in the show. Dr. Godetzky’s essay contextualizes each artist through connections to historical works and details ways in which all three use artistic practice to engage with the body. He will join artist Rona Pondick at Nunu Fine Art New York tomorrow (May 20, 2026) for a conversation expanding upon both the catalog and the show itself. The event begins at 6:30 and is free and open to the public.
