1,158%. That’s the all-time ROI Stephanie Melchione made on her first cookbook, The Cozy Cookbook, over 16,771 copies and counting. (Numbers as of 6+ months ago)

We spent this episode digging into HOW she built that momentum: staying consistent, repurposing content, staying personal with her audience, long before and long after launch day. No big reveal moment, just showing up the same way, over and over.

And it’s still paying off! That momentum carried straight into book two. Nearly 1,800 customers have bought both books together in a single order, sight-unseen. That’s what trust built over time actually looks like.

Don’t you worry...I’m still practicing my “Yaps” So let’s goooo...

If you are new here, Hi! 👋🏽. I’m LeAnna. Founder and Executive Creative Director of Weller Smith Design + Publishing.

The other day, I was asked how did I know I wanted to start my own business. In reality, I really didn’t, but in looking back, there were definitley a few things that I participate in when I was younger, that laid the foundations for the business owner that I have become.

No edits...just me yapping - with some fun “asides” throughout.

1. Girl Scouts ➡️➡️ my first love...cookies!
2. Newspapers ➡️➡️ running from dogs.
3. Lifeguard ➡️➡️ great tan and saving lives.
4. Junior Achievements ➡️➡️ labor and love.
5. Bus Service ➡️➡️ low budget, high return.
6. At the mansion ➡️➡️ like a boss.

This was fun…how did I do?

It’s National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, and we’re celebrating with a twist. 🍪🎉

Tessa Arias turned a viral cookie post (ebook) into an entire cookbook, The Ultimate Cookie Handbook, and today we’re making one of our family favorites from it: her s’mores cookies!

Graham cracker crumbs, gooey marshmallow, melted chocolate... yeah, we’re not sharing. 😋

But here’s what we really want you to take away: a cookbook isn’t just recipes. It’s your Intellectual Property, your voice, your story—turned into something people hold in their hands.

That’s the work we love doing at WSD. Turning what you’ve already built into a legacy you actually own. 📖✨

Enjoy watching us make a yummy mess in the kitchen (worth it).

Have a recipe, a following, a “you should really put this in a cookbook” comment in your DMs? Let’s talk.

🌶️ Big Flavor Energy 🌶️

Three cookbooks, three creators who bring the heat (literally and figuratively): Mike Hultquist’s Flavor Madness, Shivangi Rao’s Mindful Indian Meals, and Sip & Feast Family Favorite Recipes.

Bold flavors deserve bold design and we’re proud to have helped bring each of these to life.

Support these creators, grab their books, and if you’ve got a cookbook dream of your own, that’s what we do. 👇

3 insights (so far) from participating in the Jessi Jean Yap Challenge. 👇

1. Reps > research. This is so true!!!!! The more we create, the easier it gets. Ideating, making, posting, it’s starting to flow instead of feeling like a slog. Turns out momentum is a skill, not a mood. Just try it!!

2. This challenge is for everyone. It’s not about copying, it’s about watching how different creatives translate the same prompt in totally different directions. Some of our favorite creators from way back are showing up again, right alongside brand-new faces. Newbie or seasoned, there’s a lane for you.

3. Consistency is starting to pay off. We haven’t posted every single day (we’re human!), but our numbers and engagement are finally moving after feeling stuck for a long time. That’s proof enough to keep going.

Bonus round: we’re having fun with this! Genuinely. If you’re feeling that too, drop a 🙌 below.

👉 Follow along if you want to see where this challenge takes us next, and share this with a fellow creator who needs the nudge to start (or restart).
