THE PL***OY OF THE WESTERN WORLD is a darkly funny tale full to the brim with secrets. One of the play's standout features is its vivid, lyrical language. Drawing on Irish speech patterns and traditions, Playwright John Millington Synge turns everyday conversation into something poetic. https://nyuskirball.org/events/the-playboy-of-the-western-world-screening/

to Choral Marx, a singing adaptation of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels’s Manifesto for the Communist Party composed by Ethan Philbrick! It was a piece for mixed chorus—mixed not just in terms of gendered voice parts but also in terms of training and ability—made up of vocalists from both the contemporary music scene and socialist organizing communities, and was accompanied by the composer on cello.

"But a liturgy leaves more time for your thoughts to wander, often by design: individual silent prayer and reflection are part of the experience...On a sleepy Sunday morning, it can sometimes be hard to feel fully engaged in the reading of a Bible passage. To listen carefully and witness is not always an easy choice to make or practice to cultivate, especially in the context of our hyperspeed digital present. And yet, here, at the presentation of Gisèle’s story, I was struck by how demanding the piece was on my attention — there was no set design or strategic lighting cues to direct my attention to one performer or another. There was just a table, where two women sat reading stage directions and the lawyer’s questions, and a podium for performers to read their fragments of testimonies" https://www.culturebot.org/2026/05/104111/holding-attention/

One month until our screening of THE PL***OY OF THE WESTERN WORLD! https://nyuskirball.org/events/the-playboy-of-the-western-world-screening/

When a mysterious young stranger stumbles into Pegeen Flaherty’s pub claiming he’s killed his father, the sleepy village is electrified. Instead of horror, his shocking confession sparks fascination, admiration, and unexpected romance. But as the stranger basks in his newfound notoriety, the arrival of a second man threatens to unravel everything. Captured live on stage at the National Theatre, this screening brings the energy of the production to NYU Skirball!

The Pl***oy of the Western World tells the story of Christy Mahon, a young man running away from his farm, claiming he killed his father. But trust us its also hilarious. The alleged murderer somehow wins hearts and races as he beds himself into village life. That is until a second man unexpectedly arrives on the scene…https://nyuskirball.org/events/the-playboy-of-the-western-world-screening/

to Milo Rau's FIVE EASY PIECES! In this controversial piece, 7 young children enacted the true story of Belgian serial killer Marc Dutroux. Exploring a crime that changed a nation, this award-winning play challenges audiences to confront fundamental questions: How can children understand the significance of narrative, empathy, loss, subjection, old age, disappointment, or rebellion? How do we react if we see them acting out scenes of violence or love and romance? What does that say about our own fears and desires?

“I’ve been a good son too long, a good sucker. I’m through with it.”

In Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, a businessman’s buried wartime secret shatters his family as guilt, responsibility, and the cost of the American Dream come crashing to the surface. Bryan Cranston, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, and Paapa Essiedu feature in a five-star, triumphantly acclaimed new production of Arthur Miller’s classic play, from visionary director Ivo Van Hove. https://nyuskirball.org/events/all-my-sons-screening/
