In Cinthya Santos Briones’ solo exhibition 'Living in Sanctuary' the artist explores the lives of people—immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees—who are living in church sanctuary spaces across the United States.

Although these were taken during Trump's first term they are urgently relevant as the number of sanctuary churches has increased five-fold.

Briones’ photography captures the tenuous power dynamics within the church walls and the mental and physical toll of being stuck within them.

A beautiful and thought-provoking show on view through August 12 at BAXTER ST at Camera Club.

A new retrospective, Tanja Ostojić: 'How Much Strength it Takes...' showcases the artists shift between materials and modes: performance, social practice, video, sculpture, drawing, and painting while centering her inquiry into care and power.

Concurrently, at the symposia 'Zones of Care' at Museum of Yugoslavia Elke Krasny spoke about Oatojic's photograph 'After Courbet' (not on view) prompts a conversation about the gendered gaze and c*ns*rship.

Do you think this post will be 🚩?

A truly impressive and thought-provoking show worthy of the behemoth artist.

Haven't we had enough of the American turned French sculptor? NO?!

Artist-critic Anastasia Lopoukhine is a die hard but critically minded fan and calls it the best Calder show she has seen to date.

And, shares how others have failed before it.

Don't miss this review (and, if you happen to find yourself in Paris, exhibition).

Artist-critic Anastasia Lopoukhine was dissapointed to see Cecily Brown replace human with natural landscapes in her newest body of work at Serpentine in London.

She writes: "I had come hoping for the painter who once hid or**es inside storms of paint. Instead, I saw some logs and Humpty Dumpty."
