ARDEA ARTS is a development and production company dedicated to creating and performing new opera and musical theater works. An incubator of new works, Ardea's mission is to bring opera to a widely diverse audience of all ages in the form of new and original works that are accessible yet challenging. Our goal is to redefine opera within a contemporary framework. We work with exciting, unexpected artists who speak to audiences through the media of opera: music, words, theater, and visuals. We strive to involve the community to the greatest extent possible in the process and performance of our works. These opera-musicals embrace our indigenous vernacular energy, bursting forth within our own cultures and resonating within our own languages. They enchant, challenge, and inspire multi-generational audiences. These are the same ideas that inspired the beginnings of opera back in 1590 and these are the ideas we strive to recapture in new works by composers, writers, and artists today.

We're so excited to invite you to the New York City premiere of BOUNCE! This is the FIRST full-scale performance of BOUNCE in New York City.

The performances will take place on June 21st and 28th, on the legendary Greg Marius Court at Holcombe Rucker Park.

BOUNCE melds genres and defies stereotypes, synthesizing the full palette of American music from Rap and Hip-Hop to Jazz, EDM, and Gospel, with the percussive beat of basketballs and operatic high notes. BOUNCE tackles the School-to-prison pipeline, equity in education, and what it takes to come back from the tragedy and trauma of gun violence.

It's time to make music! 🎼🎤

We're so excited to announce that BOUNCE will be participating in 2025's Make Music New York! Make Music New York is New York City’s only music festival for the people and by the people.

On June 21st, music makers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds are empowered to take center stage and share their skills and passions through live performances in public plazas and parks, on sidewalks and in front of shops, and in partnership with cultural institutions and businesses across all five boroughs.

As part of 2025's Make Music Day, we will be performing BOUNCE The Basketball Opera at Holcombe Rucker Park. The performance is free to attend, with court0side seating available upon donation!

earned her B.A. in Theatre at the University of Kentucky with a Vocal Performance minor. Susanna has studied voice for over 13 years and currently owns a voice studio. Susanna's performing credits include Hair, Sweeney Todd, Once on this Island,The Fantasticks, and Mamma Mia! Susanna competed in the 2015 and 2017 Miss Kentucky Pageant earning a place in the top ten, Spirit of Miss Kentucky Award, and Overall Talent Award. Susanna resides in New York City pursuing a full-time performing career. Susanna has been in many productions including the upcoming bounce the basketball opera where she will be starring. She currently studies with Lisa Rochelle and Steven Lutvak (2014 Tony Award Winner). Susanna is rejoining the cast of .thebasketballopera as Mrs Lucus. She is thrilled to be back and can't wait to share the court with the talented cast and crew.

._tucker is a standout basketball player who will be starring as Future in the upcoming .thebasketballopera !!! Hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, Dominek has been playing basketball for over 10 years. He's played at the middle school, AAU, high school, college, and professional levels, as well as on the street. He has coaching experience dating back to 2017, working with kids in the Brownsville community of New York City, as a Beacon Activity Specialist, and at the Lower East Side Henry Street Settlement community PAL program. Dominek's passion for basketball is undeniable, and is thrilled to have him on board for Bounce: the Basketball Opera! 🏀🏀🏀
