Our community, born out of the shared love for the music and culture of House, has greatly blessed me professionally and personally. Inspired by the likes of Larry Levan, Tony Humphries, Timmy Regisford and so many others, I have created safe spaces for us to gather, to fellowship, to celebrate life, to dance and have fun. I have been blessed by your support throughout the years of the many events that I have been a part of including The Tea Party Libation and others. I have dedicated my life and livelihood to this culture producing music and traveling the world as one of its ambassadors. After some years Libation has successfully returned. In this post pandemic world the landscape of New York City has profoundly changed. It has always been a challenge for the promoters of our culture to find spaces that would partner with us with favorable business arrangements. It is so much harder now. Carl Dupree and the management of Now and Then has provided me and many others an opportunity to have events without the financial burden that other clubs would put on us impeding our ability to grow and sustain our events. They are able to do so in my opinion because of other endeavors and afterhours events that pay their bills, which allows space for our scene to exist at an affordable rate. This is the business side of our culture. I know that the space is not perfect (no space is) and I know that there was some miscommunication regarding last weekend's event. I have been assured that Now and Then will do a better job of adequately communicating scheduling gaps to event organizers and we as event organizers have to do a better job of communicating with you the patrons, our family. Mishaps happen, mistakes happen, life happens. I wish you all peace and grace. I look forward to seeing you all this Saturday October 19th for Libation at Now and Then with special guest DJ Beloved. I hope to see you at all the events that reflect our culture and scene at this club presented by folks like Becky Nunez, Bradford James, Madeline Stevens, Lil Ray and many others. We all are doing our best to provide the best experience of our culture for you. This club has provided us the opportunity. And we need your continued support.
We look forward to seeing everyone in a show of solidarity this weekend, for the rest of the month and moving forward as we continue to build quality events in NYC for our culture.
Blessings, Ian Friday
