George Floyd was murdered two years ago today, and in the wake of that crime, the world began to shift. We remember his life and legacy today and everyday in the fight to end systemic racism and injustice in our country. At a time when devastation heaps upon devastation, from Buffalo to Laguna Woods to Uvalde, we hold hope for change in our hearts.

Up next: LESSONS IN SURVIVAL: 1971

In 1971, 28-year-old poet Nikki Giovanni interviewed renowned novelist James Baldwin, 47, on America’s first “Black Tonight Show,” SOUL!

Fifty years later, LESSONS IN SURVIVAL: 1971, created with The Commissary, reintroduces their candid, provocative dialogue on race and liberation in America to our present moment. Building on the digital exploration of LESSONS IN SURVIVAL, which was recognized by The New York Times as "Best in Theater 2020," this revelatory live staging explores the layers of intimacy and ideas between two Black revolutionary artists of different generations, with astonishing resonance for today.

Vineyard Theatre members can book their tickets now!
Presale tickets are available exclusively to Audience Rewards® members from April 18-25, 2022.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on April 25.

Eisa Davis Named First Recipient of Vineyard's Roth-Vogel New Play Commission

"We have admired Eisa Davis as an artist and person for years. In her plays, she illuminates the complexities of her characters' inner lives with passion, humor, intelligence, and honesty. Her voice is an original and necessary one in the theatre, and we are thrilled by the prospect of more stories that only she can tell."

The Obie winner's previous works include Paper Armor, Six Minutes, and The History of Light.

We are so saddened by the loss of Ned Eisenberg, a much beloved actor and playwright. We had the honor of producing a developmental production of Ned's play SOULFUL SCREAM OF A CHOSEN SON and he co-starred, brilliantly, in two Vineyard productions, MOVING TARGETS and ANTIGONE IN NEW YORK. A great artist who will be missed.

Hello, I am trying to contact your artistic director or marketing manager regarding tours and shows. If you can have them email me ([email protected]) at their earliest convenience I would greatly appreciate it. Cheers! Chris
Can you please tell me the address where DADDY is playing? I thought it was in the village but was told it’s in the theatre district .
Are tix available for non members to see DADDY?
Loved it!!!!!
Thank you for a beautiful play, beautiful performance last night. I heard my own voice...a year and a half of crying every day after my husband's death, I made the decision that I had to stop and reignite my own dreams and aspirations.
I tried for 50 years to get the production company to honor the Fred Rogers operas by making cassette/cd's of them, or publishing the libretto/music...but it was a sideline from the main work of MRN, and PBS did not really support them for some reason. I wanted children to be able to act in them outside the tv, or to have repertory companies perform an opera a month for & with the participation of children, or provide DVD's of them for children in hospital, but that takes a lot of doing. So they are interred in the vault museum and maybe will come forth now and then grace of twitch.com....the excuse was that the sound quality on the videos was "bad"....but children don't mind such imperfections. You can see that although we started out by spoofing operas, especially those of us who felt intimidated by the real opera singers among us, we got more serious and less broad-comedy-ish as the operas progressed. The Vineyard Theater, then operating in a former dry-cleaning establishment, did (I think) two productions, but then Barbara Krieger (I may have her name incorrect) then the head of the theater, was so inspired she wrote a little opera herself, meant to play before Fred's, which are all of them 22 minutes long. Fred couldn't abide that, so, unbeknownst to me, who had courted theaters by showing the operas, he rescinded permission to do the operas, and I was both stunned and devastated when I heard. There too went my chances of working as an actor with The Vineyard, alas.
Hi, I have two tickets for tonight's performance at 8pm of THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE, please contact me or comment if you are interested, selling for below their value! Thanks!
