FRISSON THEATRE COMPANY creates and curates international theatrical experiences made up of frissons – a sudden strong feeling of excitement or fear – to wake audiences out of the daily drone and transport them to heightened realities.

FRISSON THEATRE COMPANY is the brainchild of Lauren Z. Adleman and Christoph Buchegger, recent graduates from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, who are ready to investigate how their artistic training manifests in the “real world”. In collaboration with an array of artistic innovators, Frisson Theatre Company (or FTC) embraces the natural strengths of theatrical performance while continuing to explore what is necessary to move the medium forward. FTC believes that theatre provides a window to gaze into an alternate perspective or culture – whether it be exposing an American audience to the horror of a past international tragedy, or giving insight to the opposite gender sitting next to you in a coffee shop. Works created or curated by the company focus on an individual or community in struggle with a larger society. Most importantly, FTC creates work that embraces theatrical artifice while digging for the grit and grime of both local and international societal issues that may be otherwise ignored.
