Now THAT’S how you kick off a Music Tech Summit! 🥁🔥

The Atlanta Public Schools Music Tech Summit started on a high note this year, with a drumline welcoming students as they arrived for a day of music, technology, creativity, and connection. 🎶

This Back-to-School season, help more students experience the power of making music together. $130 provides an opportunity for a student to play in their middle school band for one year. 💛 Donate today!

“What does music mean to you?” 🎶

For these 6th graders, the answers are personal.

Before receiving a Save The Music Band Grant in 2025, their school didn’t have an instrumental music program. Now, students are learning scales, warming up together, playing songs, and discovering instruments that mean something special to them.

And they’re not the only ones learning. After years of teaching chorus, their music teacher Ms. Murphy says she feels like a “new teacher again,” refreshing her instrumental roots on flute and picking up trumpet and trombone alongside her students. 💛

This is what access to music education can unlock: new skills, new passions, and new ways for students to express themselves.

Students don’t choose their five digits. But too often, their ZIP code determines whether they have access to music education.

This spring, Catarina Barcala Gosende of VML Commerce and Palak Kapadia of Amazon Brand Innovation Lab brought that message to life through "Your Five Digits," created for the Young Cannes Lions Competition.

As students head back to school, nearly half of Save The Music grant recipient schools report facing budget cuts. When budgets shrink, music programs are too often among the first at risk.

Five digits shouldn't define a student's future.

At a Brooklyn high school supported by Save The Music’s J Dilla Music Tech Grant, these students brought their ideas together to write and perform their first original song, “Bugs,” in just two days! 🎸🎧

With access to music technology, students can experiment with new sounds, collaborate with their peers, and experience what it means to create something of their own.

As school budgets tighten, access to these creative opportunities cannot be taken for granted.

Donate this Back-to-School season to help more students get the tools and resources they need to create, collaborate, and make music at school. 💛

What happens when students have access to the right instruments?

At an elementary school in Toledo, Ohio, Principal Christina Ramsey saw the difference firsthand after receiving an Intro to Music grant from Save The Music.

Before the grant, students were learning on worn, lower-quality recorders that often played out of tune. Instead of blaming the instruments, many students blamed themselves.

Everything changed when they received new, high-quality instruments.

"That right there just boosted their self-confidence."

Soon after, those same students had the opportunity to perform alongside the Toledo Symphony Orchestra.

This Back-to-School season, we're reminded that music education is about more than instruments. It's about giving students the confidence to learn, create, and discover what's possible.

This Back-to-School season, we're sharing how Save The Music measures success.

Each year, we survey active music programs and schools that have received a Save The Music grant within the past five years. This year, nearly 700 schools participated, and the results are clear: music education is changing lives.

Our latest Report Card highlights the impact music education has on students and why protecting access to these opportunities matters now more than ever.

As school budgets tighten, luckily Save The Music schools have already established sustainable music programs. Thanks to supporters like you, these programs live on when schools face budget cuts.

But as more public schools face budget cuts this Back-to-School season, access to music education cannot be taken for granted.

Help ensure every child has access to the life-changing benefits of music education. Your support helps provide instruments, technology, and resources to schools where they're needed most.

Three summers. One shared mission.

For the third year in a row, the Summer School Tour has helped expand access to music education by supporting Save The Music.

Summer School has raised over 20,000 across the 2024 and 2025 tours, and this year we were excited to join fans at the NYC stop!

To the Summer School team, the artists, the crews, and every fan who stopped by our table, donated, or shared our mission—thank you. Your support helps create more opportunities for students to discover confidence, creativity, and connection through music.

Here’s to another incredible summer!
