𝟳 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞𝗦. 𝟭𝟬 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦. 𝟭 𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗬 𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗨𝗦.

Okay… we’ve been a little quiet around here. But that’s because we’ve been busy making some serious noise. 🔥

We may be seven whole weeks into 26/27 preseason rehearsals, but we promise we haven’t forgotten about you! We've been quite active, with lots of great things cooking up for the season ahead.

We’ve been deep in the music, preparing 𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘩, 𝘓𝘢 𝘉𝘰𝘩è𝘮𝘦, 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘢, 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘰, 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘍𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘦, 𝘑𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘧𝘢, 𝘚𝘢𝘮𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘦𝘵 𝘋𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘭𝘢, 𝘛𝘰𝘴𝘤𝘢, 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘢, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘴ì 𝘧𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘦 — plus staging rehearsals, costume fittings, and, naturally, strategically timed snack and lunch breaks.

𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗔 𝗚𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗗𝗔𝗬 ✨

Cheers to the last staging rehearsal of the season! Today was our final run-through of 𝙏𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙩 before we reopen this Tuesday. With just 21 days left, we’re officially in the home stretch of this fast & furious 25/26 season.

Today’s rehearsal was joy-filled and thrilling. We’re welcoming a fantastic new cast, and the music being made on stage — in an empty house — felt uniquely special. Alongside the , , , & , it almost felt like its own private concert: one of those rare moments where the music felt less like rehearsal and more like a shared experience.

Moments like today are such a beautiful reminder of why this work is so meaningful — not just as artists, but as colleagues, collaborators, and union members building something together night after night. Today it was Puccini bringing us together. Tomorrow it will be Tchaikovsky, and Sunday, Gabriela Lena Frank. No matter the composer, it always comes back to the music at the center of it all.

Spring at the Met means one thing… Open House! 🌸
We loved welcoming families into our home ahead of today’s performance of La Bohème—meeting curious kids, sharing stories, and for many, offering a first glimpse into opera.

Thank you to our chorus members who showed up in costume, bringing smiles, warmth, and a little extra magic to the day. ✨

Cheers to our final staging rehearsal of the season! Frida rehearsals have been a whirlwind & we've got some happy faces ready to say goodbye to this portion of the season. Time to take it to the stage 🎭🌼

Last week on Wednesday, April 8th, we lost a dear friend and beloved member of our Met family, Michael Mckenna. On Monday he was laid to rest, surrounded by family and friends, including his extended Metropolitan Opera family. Dresser Daniel Bak gave a heartfelt and touching remembrance, and tenors and basses of the chorus sang “Oh Danny Boy” as a tribute to the man who for some many years was such a key part in making sure everything on the Met stage looked as beautiful as it could be.

For over 20 years, Mikey was a dresser who worked at the Met in every department, but especially with the tenor and bass chorus. His generosity of spirit and his unconditionally warm, kind, and sweet nature was one of a kind. We can all take comfort in the memories of his wicked sense of humor, all the wonderful conversations, late nights, and good food we shared.

Mike was an expert on vintage fashion and millinery, supplying hats and accessories for The Marvelous Miss Mazel, The Gilded Age and sharing his vast store of knowledge and great stories. He enjoyed any opportunity to get dressed up and share his collection with the rest of us for many period events or just a special occasion when he knew he had that perfect piece in his closet.

But most of all we will miss just chatting before a show, his welcoming smile, and the great job he always did. His energy and spirit will be so greatly missed and will forever resonate with so many of us here at The Met.

Mikey, you are loved. 🤍🕊️

The MCA presents the 3rd Annual Spring Sing | Celebrate Shakespeare

After much success with our Spring Sing programs, we are excited to announce our 3rd annual concert on April 26th, 2026 at 4pm. In past years, we have performed in Bronxville, NY, but we are moving back to the city with a performance in Manhattan at All Souls NYC. The Spring Sing with feature over 15 Met Chorus Artists in solos, duets, ensembles, and, you guessed it, Sing Alongs! Come raise your voices and CELEBRATE SHAKESPEARE with the Met Chorus Artists.

The first three rows will be VIP seating, general admission after that point.

𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧: 𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘

Tonight we open Kaija Saariaho’s Innocence. This production has garnered great acclaim for tackling difficult & disturbingly relevant subject matter. Simon Stone's production design for Innocence presents a large scale, rotating structure of rooms, showcasing the life and wide web of communal trauma left in the wake of a school shooting.

If you happen to wonder how the chorus serves in this arena, you’ll hear us but you won’t see us. We’ll be stationed each performance from the red velvet seats of List Hall. Outfitted with headphones and ear buds, a monitor of Maestro Susanna Mälkki for Maestro Michael, assistance from David Moody, and a screen for us to watch the show along with you. The marvels of audio engineering, eh?!

The chorus’ role is largely textural, adding to the orchestration you’ll hear from the pit. Additionally, we serve as part of the psyche for many characters throughout the show. This is a striking, unique production and while you may not see us, we look forward to you seeing the show!
