DAAR—Decolonizing Architecture Art Research, an architecture/art practice convened by Sandi Hilal and Alessandro Petti, is the inaugural recipient of the Kyong Park Prize for Art and Architecture.
Honoring the legacy of Storefront’s founder Kyong Park, the prize recognizes critical practices at the intersection of art, architecture, and politics, providing an unrestricted award of 25,000 USD. This award emerges from multiple stages of evaluation by a distinguished interdisciplinary jury composed of Negar Azimi, Thomas Keenan, Manuela Moscoso, Marina Otero Verzier, Eugenie Tsai, and Mabel O. Wilson.
A public ceremony celebrating the inaugural Kyong Park Prize will be held this Friday, June 26 at 7 pm as part of the Annual Gathering hosted by the Entity of Decolonization in Entity of Decolonization, Borgo Ex (Rizza), Sicily. This includes a lecture by Sandi Hilal and Alessandro Petti, introductions by José Esparza Chong Cuy and Marina Otero Verzier, and a conversation with DAAR and Kyong Park moderated by Manuela Moscoso and Guillermo Ruiz de Teresa.
