Resuming tonight at 8PM, The Russian Arts Theater and Studio’s acclaimed production of Enemies Of The People, a play about the lives and creations of some of the most oppressed artists of 20th century Russia—Anna Akhmatova, Mikhail Bulgakov, Osip & Nadezhda Mandelstam, Boris Pasternak, Dmitry Shostakovich and Marina Tsvetaeva. Some seldom seen footage of Nadezhda Mandelstam remembering her husband Osip Mandelstam, one the greatest poets of 20th century Russia. Enemies Of The People: Poetry and Music Under Stalinist Regime will return to Pushkin Hall this Saturday at 8PM!

During Stalin's stormy and restless reign, writers faced intense censorship and scrutiny. As their lives turned impossibly difficult under tyranny, the poet became in return a figure of power and popularity. Remarkably, novelists, poets and musicians from the early decades of the Soviet Union produced some of the most imaginative and redemptive works in the history of the twentieth century. Their voices would become the conscience of millions suffering under oppression. This February, renowned Russian director Aleksey Burago leads a critically-acclaimed ensemble in commemorating the works and lives of Anna Akhmatova, Nadezhda & Osip Mandelstam, Mikhail Bulgakov, Dmitry Shostakovich, Boris Pasternak and more. Join The Russian Arts Theater & Studio at Pushkin Hall for an evening of wine, live music and theatrical interpretations of the works and memoirs of the most significant Russian poets of the 20th century.

Welcome to Our Home at Pushkin Hall

In June 2018, The Russian Arts Theater and Studio settled in its permanent home on the second floor of The Center at West Park, located at W86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. With much love and toil, nearly 2,000 square feet of space has been converted into a 75-seat theater/event venue named Pushkin Hall. Since then, Pushkin Hall has accommodated thousands of guests in its intimate and rustic home. Decorated in the antique Russian style, this venue is perfect for theatrical productions, staged readings, rehearsals, film shoots, fundraisers, parties and other events. Plan your next gathering at Pushkin Hall. We look forward to welcoming you to our home!
