25 years later now but we will never forget. Our hearts are always with our fellow New Yorkers on this day as we remember how life was changed forever.

This photo of NYTB School Founder Diana Byer & Peter Lewton Brain performing in the Battery Dance Downtown Dance Festival (Jonathan Hollander, Battery Dance Founder & Director) at the World Trade Center Plaza appeared in The New York Times, 1991.

Our hearts are broken to hear the news that the great Sir Richard Alston has passed away. He was a dear friend and mentor to NYTB School’s founder, Diana Byer, and our students were no doubt deeply affected by the privilege of getting to see his works at NYTB over the years. Our deepest condolences go out to , , and to all those in the dance community who knew and loved him.

In addition to daily dance classes, this summer our students have been busy learning about costume design through art history. We took a trip to see the Iris van Herpen exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum, using the art as inspiration for their choreography and learning how their choreography inspires the costume design. Stay tuned to see their creativity come alive!
