Seguinland Institute’s site specific, commissioned artwork integrated mined feldspar & wild clay inspired by Aesop’s fable of the crow & the water.

The crow plunked pebbles into a pitcher until the water level rose to quench her thirst. Using ingenuity & perseverance to show there’s more than one way to problem solve. Perfect to symbolize the dynamic, evolving students’ journey.

As part of their orientation, students will add a rock to the sculpture. Used around the world, cairns mark time, place, & energy.

Compass investigates permanence, claim and space through the juxtaposition and placement of materials. Suspended wild clay disks interact with industrial steel to serve as a metaphor for location. How do we value land and sure footing?

Join us for the smashing opening of True North in London’s tonight 16:30-18:30. True North runs through May 5.
True North explores the concept of land commodification, with parcels representative of space and placement. How do our connections to natural resources shape our direction? As an abstracted, displaced landscape, this exhibition considers humanitys movements around the
globe in response to climate changes. As the viewer navigates their movement around these artworks, the contemplative space provokes individual ecological consciousness regarding how natural resources are gathered, accumulated, and valued.

A sculptor’s life: conceptualize, fabricate, transport, install. Deinstall, transport. I’ve tried to make this a sustainable practice: to carry steel & rock & clay close to heart. My car’s been my office, my shelter, my studio, my dining room, my bedroom, my storage, my sanctuary. Home.
I’m fortunate. It’s been a wild ride, framed by its windows. Thousands of miles, thousands of miles.
My father’s family travelled the country between Air Force base assignments: 8 of them in a station wagon. In my car, I’ve learned what to depend upon: generational power of survival and momentum is engrained. Onward!
