Suromurchhana presents Vocal Lessons with Smt. Namami Karmakar, offering students an opportunity to explore the rich tradition of Hindustani classical music through both offline and online classes in New York.

A Master's graduate in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music from Rabindra Bharati University, Smt. Namami Karmakar offers rigorous yet engaging training in the Kirana Gharana, with a strong foundation in khayal, ragas and Hindustani classical music. Her performance experience spans prestigious venues across India and the United States, including the Rubin Museum of Art, Chhandayan, Maverick Concerts and the Gandhi Center.

A faculty member at Suromurchhana (India & USA) and the Chhandayan Center of Indian Music in New York since 2016, she guides students of all ages through structured instruction, performance opportunities and a nurturing musical environment.

Classes are held at a convenient location in Midtown Manhattan & Queens, New York City.

Marking its 20th edition since its inception in 2007, the Pt. A. Kanan & Vidushi Malabika Kanan Memorial Conference 2026 celebrates nearly two decades of dedication to Indian Classical Music. This milestone edition promises to be a grand tribute to two distinguished stalwarts whose musical legacy continues to inspire generations.

As Suromurchhana crosses continents to bring this special occasion to Kolkata, the city prepares to welcome a celebration of music, heritage and artistic excellence.

A beautiful evening of music, artistry, and togetherness with Suromurchhana. ✨

Evening Melodies brought together the soulful classical guitar of Pt. Suman Laha, the rhythmic brilliance of Tabla Legend Pt. Samar Saha, and a special vocal performance by Sri. Dhruvin Shah, accompanied by Sri. Manav Khurana on tabla.

The evening was further enriched by the presence of Suromurchhana’s Founder Director, Pandit Sanjoy Banerjee, and President, V.S. Mani, who addressed the gathering, along with many close guests and well-wishers of Suromurchhana.

From the artistry on stage to the conversations and shared moments around it, Evening Melodies was a celebration of Hindustani classical music and the community that continues to grow around it.
