I never thought I would be part of an underwear campaign, let alone be the model for it. ✨
Since I was a child living in the Dominican Republic, I’ve had to deal with topics regarding my skin, my smile, my weight. (Scars, stretch marks, braces, being called “too skinny”). Because of these beauty standards that were totally out of my control, I had already checked myself out of the possibility of ever being an underwear/bikini model.
So when ‘s co- founder Marissa and I had our FaceTime “go sees” a few weeks before the campaign shoot, I was extremely excited and nervous. I then shared with her the reasons why. I expressed how I had never considered doing this type of campaign and how aware I was of my “my tiger stripes” (stretch marks) as I call them. I had done my research on their company and was pleased to find that they were super inclusive and diverse with their products and their models. So, of course I brought that up because that was the main reason I was super excited, it meant I had a CHANCE. It meant that the little girl with braces, acne on her face, stretch marks in her b***y and “too skinny”, finally had a an opportunity.
I’m thankful for the process and can’t wait to continue reaching goals, abolish stereotypes and make myself a vessel of opportunities and an example for the little girls and boys of this world... and of future generations. @ New York, New York
