Our percussionist Rocssy is back home relaxing with family, and dropping off supplies! Through Congo Culture Connection, we sent over drumsticks for local musicians, including a stop at a rehearsal for the classic group Les Bantous De La Capitale. This is part of our ongoing mission to resource the vibrant music community in both Congos.
We don’t just play Congolese music, we support the ecosystems that created it.

While Luanda is known for Semba, Kizomba and Kuduro, Northern Angola and Bakongo music leans heavily into Rumba, Sebene, and Agwaya

Last September, live Congolese dance class with Etoo Tsana Officielle 🇵🇷🇨🇬🇨🇩, Khadijah Koumbassa and Orchestre Moto.

Orchestre Moto (NY) musical director Solo De Kanto finally linked up with our LA branch leader, the legendary Huit Kilos (Nseka Bimwela). We were honored to support Ricardo Lemvo at Opus 40, and even with the rain pushing us to the smaller The Local Saugerties, the vibes were righteous. HUIT KILOS! HUIT KILOS!
